 ANDREW STERN, MD Executive Director, Fast Forward Film Festival Andrew Stern, MD, is the founder and Executive Director of the Fast Forward Film festival, as well as co-­‐founder and executive director of The Lost Bird Project. He is a practicing neurologist and an Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Rochester. Upon retirement from his neurological practice at the end of 2014, Stern will devote himself fully to raising environmental awareness. Andy also works closely with Physicians for Social Responsibility on issues of climate change health. A long time Zen Buddhist practitioner, he is the author of numerous essays related to environmental concerns from a Zen perspective. BECCA DELANEY, MS Project Director, Fast Forward Film Festival Becca Delaney, MS, is the Fast Forward Film Festival’s Project Director. In her previous roles with Rochester Institute of Technology and as an independent marketing consultant for global companies, Delaney developed creative brand solutions and strategy with event planning support. Her signature is extracting and projecting artistic elements in each campaign she touches. Delaney holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism from St. John Fisher College, and a master’s degree in communication and media technology from Rochester Institute of Technology. TODD MCGRAIN Juror Todd McGrain is a sculptor, filmmaker, author, co-­‐founder and Creative Director of The Lost Bird Project. McGrain is the artist-­‐in-­‐residence at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the winner of the 2014 Audubon Award for Art Inspiring Conservation. His sculptures, memorials to five extinct North American birds, are currently on view at the Smithsonian, the John James Audubon Center, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, and the National Wildlife Museum. His book about the personal journey to place his sculptures, The Lost Bird Project, was published in September 2014. McGrain is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts, New York City, in social documentary filmmaking. JACK GARNER Juror Jack Garner is a nationally renowned film critic and author, with a 20-­‐year tenure as the Chief National Critic for Gannett Newspapers. Now retired, Garner is a freelance arts and entertainment writer. He is a member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, the Eastman House Council, and is a recipient of the 2013 Impact Award from the Rochester Media Association. Garner has taught at Monroe Community College and Rochester Institute of Technology, and he served on the boards of Writers & Books and BOA Editions. He is also author of the book From My Seat on the Aisle: Movies and Memories, a memoir and anthology of his work published in September 2013. Garner holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from St. Bonaventure University, and a master’s from Syracuse University. DEBORAH DICKSON Juror Deborah Dickson is a three-­‐time Academy Award nominated independent film director. Her films include The Education of Gore Vidal, Ruthie and Connie; Lalee’s Kin, Witnesses to a Secret War, The Lost Bird Project, and the acclaimed Carrier series. In addition to producing and directing, Dickson teaches directing at the master’s program in social documentary at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. ENID CARDINAL Juror Enid Cardinal is the Senior Sustainability Advisor to the President at Rochester Institute of Technology, where she facilitates a campus culture of sustainability in operations, curriculum, and research. Prior to joining the R.I.T. community, she was the director of the office of sustainability at Illinois State University. Cardinal has also worked as a project consultant for organizations, including Audubon International and Calvert. After completing her undergraduate degree, she spent a year in AmeriCorps, NCCC and later served as a crew leader for the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps. She is LEED –accredited professional. Cardinal holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and history from Binghamton University and a master’s degree in environmental policy from Bard College. She currently serves on the board of trustees of the Central and Western New York chapter of The Nature Conservancy, and was tapped for Rochester’s 2014 Forty Under 40 honor.
