Many thanks to our whole school community for the wonderful attendance at our
30th Birthday celebrations. A special thanks go to all the staff who put in an amazing effort to ensure this was a very successful day. The winners of the raffle are
Alexis Seubert who won the bike kindly donated by Spokes NT and Tessa Rose who
won the wheelbarrow kindly donated by Bunnings.
Last term we had a special incentive for students to try to reach their personal
reading target. All students across the school work with their teacher to set a personal reading target to reach by the end of the term. Those students who reached
their target in Term 3 had their names in a draw for a movie pass. The winners are:
Jadis Noakes, Kynan Lo, Ricky Prance, Jaya Poe, Kobi Williams, Laquida Banderson,
Shaune Wright, Jade Miller and Brandon Martin. Congratulations to those students
and I hope you enjoyed your free movie during the holidays. Once again in Term 4,
students will set themselves another personal reading target and those who reach
that target will go in the draw again for a movie pass. In order for students to reach
their personal reading target they will need to be reading every day so I encourage
parents to support your child with this.
At the 30th Birthday we surveyed many parents about our school start and finish
times. The results were overwhelming in favour of keeping the same school hours
as we have now – 8am to 2.30pm Thanks to all those parents who contributed to
this survey.
Congratulations to Keira Stewart who has won the permanent appointment to Senior Teacher at Gray School. We would also like to welcome Anne Van De Meene
and Mary De Loryn who will be job sharing a teacher position until the end of this
year.
We are currently organizing our classes for next year so if you
have not let us know that you are leaving we are assuming that
your child/ren will remain at Gray School next year. If this is not
the case please ring the office or send a note to Mrs Chin. Many
thanks.
Have a wonderful week

Transitioning from Year 6 to Year 7
Yesterday the Year 6 students from, 6 Stewart and
5/6 Rummery had an outstanding day visiting Rosebery
Middle School. We found out how to prepare for middle
school next year. The schools were split into two classes and
Mrs Evans got two students from Year 7 to guide us around the school. They took us to classes to have
a look how the system works in classes. You get a timetable for what subjects you have to do and go
to. We went to history, science, pathways and Art. Pathways is where people need a little support and
help with middle school work. After those three activities we went to the gym to watch some students
that participated in a GATES Production called Zombies. Alyssa Wrenn, Shaune Wright and Jade Miller
represented Gray Primary School and had solo dancing parts.
After all that we had a great day and can’t wait to go Rosebery
Middle School next year.

READING CLUB
What is Reading Club?
Reading club is a new initiative at Gray Primary School. Kids and families can read together or
do reading type games in the FAMILY CENTRE. Students will be able to read every day before
School.
When is Reading Club? 7:30am – 8:00am every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
Mornings.
Who can come to Reading Club? We encourage all students and family to come and
have a turn to read during the week. Little Kids welcome.
What is a Reading Leader? These students have elected to be reading leaders and help
younger students to choose books, listen to others read and play reading type games.
Reading Leaders will also assist younger students to keep a record of their achievements in
reading.
How will I recognise a Reading Leader? They will
be wearing a badge with the reading Leader logo on it.
The more that you

What kind of books will they read? There
