ACHIEVING WORK-LIFE BALANCE
• Feels like the first day at school!
Feel lost? No worries, everybody does!
• Multiple obligations: research, attendance of
classes, teaching, conferences and more….
Managing your own time!
• First time abroad?
Additional concerns: language, cultural
differences, adaptation to a whole new
reality!

Life Outside
- It’s a privileged position to be able to conduct research into an area you are interested
and enjoy. I believe you get out what you put in, however…
- You are your own boss in a sense – so don’t overload yourself unnecessarily.
-
A PhD is more a marathon than a sprint.
- Get involved with events / sports / clubs / tours which interest you – Glasgow has
something for everybody
