Isaiah describes heaven as a sumptuous, gleeful celebration.
On this mountain the LORD Almighty
will prepare

the sheet that covers all nations;

In the final of four readings from Philippians, Paul exhorts us to rejoice and
give thanks to God in all circumstances—and he was writing from prison!
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness
be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to
God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is
excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned
or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God
of peace will be with you.
I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for
me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I
am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content
whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it
is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every
situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can
do everything through Him who gives me strength.

God invites you to the heavenly feast. Don’t make excuses!
Come to His feast, wearing the “right” clothes—the garment
of righteousness that is yours through faith in Jesus Christ.
Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is
like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to
those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused
to come.
“Then he sent some more servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been
invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been
butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’
“But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his
business. The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them. The king
was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their
city.

TODAY’S WORSHIP - Clothed in the Righteousness of Christ,
We Partake of His Wedding Feast.
By His Cross and
Resurrection, the Lord has swallowed up death forever, and by His
Gospel He “will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach
of His people He will take away from all the earth” (Isaiah 25:8).
Therefore, “let us be glad and rejoice in His salvation” (Isaiah
25:9). On the Mountain of the Lord of hosts—in His Church on
earth, as in the kingdom of heaven—He has made “for all peoples
a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine” (Isaiah 25:6). It is
the royal “wedding feast” of the Son of God, “and everything is
ready” (Matthew 22:1, 4). Thus, His servants are sent into the
highways and bi-ways to invite and gather as many as they find,
“both good and bad,” to fill the wedding hall with guests (Matthew
22:8–10). In Holy Baptism, He clothes them all in the “wedding
garment” of His own perfect righteousness (Matthew 22:11).
Therefore, “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be
made known to God,” and “rejoice in the Lord always”
(Philippians 4:4-6).
PRAYER BEFORE WORSHIP - Lord God, heavenly Father,
send forth Your Son, we pray, to lead home His bride, the Church,
that with all the company of the redeemed we may finally enter into
His eternal wedding feast; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who
lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and
forever. Amen.

SPECIAL
Students GIFTS FROM OUR CONGREGATION
11 - The
Endowment Committee was given the task by the Voters Assembly
of distributing the money from our school fire set aside for outreach
beyond our congregation. One request was granted at our last
Endowment Committee meeting of $5,000 for St. John Lutheran
Church in Pilger, Nebraska, to help after the devastating tornados
which destroyed their church and many members’ homes and
farms. The Committee would like to have a list of other
suggestions from congregation members that could receive our
gifts, such as Lutheran World Relief, Lutheran Hour, LCMS
Missions, individual student grants, and any other organization.
Application forms are in the Church Office in the Endowment
Committee mail slot and any member can make application for
funds by filling out a form and returning it to the mail slot or to
Endowment Committee Chairman Ken Debrick, whom you can
contact if you have any questions. God has blessed our
congregation— let’s glorify God with this money!

CIRCUIT REFORMATION SERVICE - Everyone is invited to
celebrate our Lutheran heritage at our Circuit Reformation Service
on Sunday, October 26 at 2:00pm at Trinity Lutheran Church,
5601 West 62nd Street (Nall and Shawnee Mission Parkway) in
Mission. Trinity’s Pastor Emeritus Lee Hovel will be the preacher.
The service will feature a combined choir from area congregations
as well as the Lutheran High School of Kansas City Concert Choir.
Holy Communion will be celebrated and a light reception will
follow.
REFORMATION MOVIE NIGHT TODAY - Everyone is
invited to a fun “Reformation Movie Night” today at 6:00pm in the
Fellowship Hall. We will commemorate the Reformation by
enjoying the award-winning classic “Martin Luther” movie,
projected on a big screen. We’ll also have a “popcorn bar”
featuring delicious treats to mix in with your popcorn. Sponsored
by the Sunday School for all ages! Children please bring bean
bags and pillows to get comfy on the floor. Come this evening for
the fun, food, and fellowship as we celebrate our Lutheran
heritage!
CHICKEN NOODLE AND CHILI DINNER OCTOBER 26 Everyone is invited to the annual Chicken Noodle and Chili Dinner
and Bazaar on Sunday, October 26 after worship beginning at
11:00am in the Fellowship Hall. Freewill donations will be
accepted. Volunteers are needed to make desserts and items for the
bazaar and to help with the event. Come and enjoy the fun,
fellowship, and delicious food!

CELEBRATING 4H WEEK – In celebration of National 4-H
week, the Twin Valley 4-Her’s have set-up a display in the
overflow. We would like to invite you to take a walk down
memory lane and review past and present scrapbooks put together
over the years by our 4-H families. Twin Valley is the local 4-H
club which was chartered in 1945 and has been serving the local
community ever since. 4-H is a community of young people
across the U.S. learning leadership, citizenship, and life
skills. Thank you to our 4-H families for all your contributions!
TRUNK OR TREAT - Trinity’s 6th
annual Trunk or Treat will be held
Saturday, October 25th from
4:00pm-6:00pm at the Church. In
addition to the treats we will have
food, games, pumpkin decorating
and a bounce house! Please consider
bringing a car/truck and passing out
treats. It’s lots of fun to see the smiling
faces of the kids! If you do plan to bring a car/truck, please arrive
early to be completed with setup by 3:30pm. Thanks for your

REFORMATION AND ALL SAINTS - On
Reformation Sunday, October 26, we will have a
special order of service based on the writings of
Martin Luther, featuring all hymns written by
him. The following Sunday, November 2, we will
observe All Saints Day (transferred from
November 1) with a new tradition of a special
memorial ceremony during the service for
members of Trinity who have entered eternal life
during the past year, since the last All Saints Day.

OCTOBER TRINITY TRIBUNE - The October issue of our
church newsletter Trinity Tribune is available in the large literature
rack in back of the sanctuary. Our new copier allows us to produce
large-print copies, which are also available. Pastor Vogts’ article
this month relates the surprising origin of the term “mainline
denomination,” and why our Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod has
never actually been considered “mainline”—even though we are
among the largest religious denominations in the United States.
The current and past issues of our newsletter are also available
online on the church’s web site, www.trinitylcms.org, under the
“Newsletter” button. Pick up your copy of Trinity Tribune today!
PORTALS OF PRAYER - The new issue
of Portals of Prayer for October thru
December is available in the small literature
rack (on the end table) in back of the church.
To make reading easier, in addition to the
standard “pocket” size we now have copies
available in a medium “digest” size (same
as Reader’s Digest), and a large-print size.
You will be blessed by the brief daily devotions and short daily
Bible readings prayers. There are also suggested longer readings for
each day, and in the back of each issue a wonderful collection of
prayers for each day of the week and special needs and occasions. A
great way to keep close to the Lord!
ADULT BIBLE STUDY - We are continuing our study in Adult
Bible Class of The Week that Changed the World, exploring the
events of Holy Week, which are so central to our faith, using a
booklet that shows side-by-side the accounts of these events from
the four Gospels. You are invited to join in on Sundays at 9:00am
in the Overflow to grow in your faith and your understanding of
The Week That Changed the World.

NURSING HOME SERVICES NEXT SUNDAY - You are
invited to help Trinity provide brief worship services for nursing
home residents at North Point and Medicalodge this afternoon.
The simple services are approximately 20 minutes in length at each
home. We begin at 1:30pm at North Point and then go to
Medicalodge for the second service. The residents really enjoy
these services, especially singing their favorite hymns. It’s great to
have church members there to greet the residents and sing along.
We have a faithful few members who help but we could use your
help too!

Voted to have architectural plans done by an engineer so bids on a
shelter house can be made. Voted to set 2015 mission budget to

our Together in Missions partner. Gave the Board of Education
the task of seeking information about a position for youth
involvement. The Bylaws committee is seeking feedback as we
look to make changes that include all members 18 years of age to
join the voter’s assembly. Committee members are Greg Windler,
Jim Prothe, Mike Oberheide, Bill Koelsch, Darrel Rodewald, and
John Gerken. Would like to have a wish list for memorial funds
and the Master Landscape needs.
