the world at Brave New Voices in 2014. Ebony writes
because she has to, teaches Sex Education for a living
and eats cupcakes for fun. Currently on her RISE!
Tour, promoting sexual health, body image and
healthy relationships through performance and
workshops.
Texas raised, the South in her.
"Ebony's work offers a unique balance,
often sought but rarely found, in
performance poetry. It can be both
aggressive and subdued; tough and
tender; in your face and subtly clever."
- Jon Goode, Emmy
Nominee & HBO Def Poet
“Ebony Stewart was phenomenal!
She did not disappoint! She was
energetic, personable, real, and
relatable! It is evident that she loves
poetry! Y ou could feel her love for
performing through her powerful
stage presence! It felt as if engaging
with her was involuntary! The
students also loved the fact that she
hung out afterwards and took the
time to get to know them!”
- University of Arkansas,
Fayetteville
“Ebony was awesome and she really
connected with the crowd. She was
professional and her poems were very
educational.”
- Eastern Oregon University

Ebony uses poetry, performance, real-life &
experiences from teaching in the classroom as
resources to address sexual health, body
image, and self-esteem. Her mission is to
improve, support and protect the lives of
women, people of color and the LGBTQ
community by creating a healing space,
through workshops and discussion, where we
know our worth, acknowledge our struggles
and celebrate our victories.
 Workshops can range from 1-3 hours
 Workshops can be combined to accommodate the school, organization, or institution
 Participants are not required to have a writer’s background
 All workshops include a live performance and talk back with Ebony Stewart
WORKSHOPS
Let’s Talk About Sex
This workshop is a general breakdown of anatomy, contraceptives, and sexually transmitted
diseases with an inference on teachable moments, icebreakers/games and strategies for removing
barriers to gain a better knowledge about sexual health.
Sex, Love & Above
Sexuality is more than just the “plumbing.” This workshop explores all the many layers of body
image, sexual orientation, reproductive health & genitals, gender roles & identity, relationships,
love & affection through discussion and activities that will allow us to investigate the stories we
tell ourselves and how those stories interfere with how we see and accept others.
How Do You Woman?
This workshop acknowledges all the woman-girl stories we live and breathe through our bodies;
the many spaces we occupy day-to-day and how those experiences can cause emotional, physical
and mental baggage that blocks us from being our best selves. In this workshop we focus on
writing away what is eating us from the inside out while finding commonalities and reasons to
hold each other.
Get Free
This course uses poetry and performance as an instrument to speak from our honest selves and
give our individual truth permission to be the bravest testimony we have to offer.
