Position: Assistant Lecturer
Location: College Station, Texas
Position Available: January 1, 2015 or as negotiated.
Position Description—Assistant Lecturer, non-tenure-track position with responsibilities in teaching Agricultural Leadership and
Development courses, both face-to-face and online, in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications at
Texas A&M University. Appointment is for a 12-month position with potential for annual reappointment pending satisfactory
performance and funding.
Major Duties and Responsibilities—The key person will (1) teach four undergraduate courses each long semester and two
undergraduate courses each summer; (2) support the Leadership work group; (3) demonstrate excellence in teaching, scholarship, and
service; and (4) perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications—Earned master’s degree in leadership or closely related field by the start date. Depth of knowledge within the field of
leadership and previous teaching and/or training experience are required. Preference will be given to candidates with an earned
doctorate by the start date and with relevant professional or industry experience and teaching and/or training experience in higher
education settings.

Other Information—The ALEC leadership program at Texas A&M University includes two majors and a minor and offers more
than 25 undergraduate courses in personal leadership education, leadership theory, applied ethics, leadership and change, and team
leadership. As of fall 2014, the Agricultural Leadership and Development major included 540 undergraduate students and the
University Studies – Leadership Studies major included 227 undergraduate students.

and needs assessment, learner-centered instructional design, delivery strategies, evaluation and accountability, and research and
measurement tools. The work of the faculty is expressed through six contextual applications, including agricultural communications,
agricultural leadership education, agricultural teacher education, distance education, extension education, and international agricultural
