President’s Post
Well, vacations, resting, and the dog
days of summer are nearly over. It’s
time to approach fall with renewed
energy. And we are going to need it,
with all the activities planned for the
upcoming months! First on the calendar is the Town of Trophy Club Pet
Fest to be held Saturday, September
20th. This annual event, held at Freedom Park, is a great way to meet new
potential members, all while petting a
variety of furry friends. If you would
like to volunteer for a few hours that
Saturday morning passing out homemade doggie treats, contact Kathy
Carlton.
Next up will be the annual Garden
Tour. Typically a springtime event, it
was moved to the fall last year and
was highly successful, so the Trophy
Gardeners are doing it at the same
time again this year. They are busy
with plans for another great tour,
highlighting the unique backyards of
homes in Trophy Club. Mark your
calendar for the afternoon of Sunday,
October 5 for this wonderful event.
Right after that is finished, it will be
time to clean out your closets and
garage to see if you need to have a
Garage Sale. If so, you are in luck,
as the TCWC fall Garage Sale will be
Saturday, October 18. Chair Tanya
Bills is busy advertising in every local
media outlet to ensure a good crowd
for the day. You may purchase the
required permit to participate in the
sale at Tom Thumb or Sassy Flamingo in the 3 weeks prior to the sale.
Also in October, our nominations
committee will be meeting, led by
Chair Jeannette Tiffany. Maybe you
are a little new to the group but would
like to get more involved, or maybe
you’ve been around for awhile and
your schedule has eased up enough
to allow you more time to volunteer.
Or, you just want to see the Women’s
Club moving forward in a strong direction. Whatever the case, we need
you on the TCWC Board of Directors.
This is the time when we recruit members for the next year. If you are
interested in serving, or would like to
nominate someone else, please
download the form from the TCWC
Citywide Garage
Note:
Volunteers are
needed for map
sales on the
morning of the
Garage Sale.
Contact Tanya
Bills to sign up
and for other
opportunities to
help.
The 2014 Fall city wide garage sale is scheduled for Saturday, October 18 from 8:00 am to
2:00 pm. Residents who would like to participate
can purchase permits at the Tom Thumb Customer Service Counter or Sassy Flamingo starting September 18. Permits must be purchased
by 3:00 pm Thursday, October 16 in order to be
listed on the published locater map. Locater
maps will be sold for $1 at the main Trophy Club
entrances. Volunteers are needed for map
sales. Please contact
Tanya Bills at [email protected]
or 682-502-4594 ext

website or contact Jeannette Tiffany.
We need your talent, and invite you
to join in the fun!
And if that isn’t enough, we will end
the year with the always fabulous
Christmas Home Tour. Once again,
Terri Lane will chair the committee
that has raised so much money for
our charities, while providing a thoroughly enchanting way to start the
holidays. Save the date of Sunday,
December 7 for the annual Home
Tour. Would you like to have your
home decorated by a team of elves?
We need your home on the tour.
Contact Terri Lane if you would like
to participate or help out with any of
the many volunteer opportunities.
The details for this event, as well as
all the others, can be found elsewhere in this newsletter.
Join us in welcoming the cooler
weather in the fall, and all the exiting
activities we have lined up.

Social Event: Tyler, TX
Everything is coming up roses...in Tyler Texas, anyway. Trophy Club Women’s Club and the Town of Trophy Club have joined forces again to offer a bus trip to the
renowned Tyler Rose Festival on Saturday, October
18. So that we will not miss a moment of the wonderful
parade, that starts at 9:00a.m., the bus will be leaving
bright and early at 6:30ish. Yes, in the morning! We are
planning a full day of activities including the parade, touring the rose gardens, and visiting an art exhibit. Then we
will stop to have lunch at the Potpourri Restaurant. The
cost of lunch is not included in your trip cost. Afterwards,
we will stop by the arts and crafts sale with over 75 vendors. Finally, we will stop by Chamblee Rose Nursery on
the way out of town. The anticipated return to Trophy
Club is around 6:00 p.m.
Bus fare for this trip is $38, including transportation to
each of the locations, minimizing walking. You may contact Sherri Lewis of the Trophy Club Parks and Recreation Department to reserve your seat on the bus. Call
Sherri at 682-831-4603 for reservations or Nancy Gray at
972-859-9803 for questions.

The Magic of Christmas—2014
Summer disappeared way too quickly and it is time to set our
sights on the Christmas Tour of Homes. The core committee has
been working on sponsorships, publicity, food, and all of the intricate details. We welcome your creative ideas and need your participation on the committee. If you haven’t already, please mark
your calendar for Sunday, December 7th. The committee loved
last year’s theme and voted for it to remain, “The Magic of Christmas – 2014”. We are working very hard to make the tour as special as the theme, and the Christmas Tour of Homes is the perfect
way to welcome this very special season!
The committee has focused on corporate sponsors, but we ask
each of you to assist with the restaurants and businesses you
support. Do you own a business or would you ask someone you
know to be a sponsor? Sponsorship letters are available by contacting Terri Lane. The Christmas Tour of Homes is our major
fund raiser and all profits are awarded to our non-profit grant recipients, such as the Roanoke Food Pantry, Battered Women’s
Foundation and Children Advocacy Center.
We need two additional festive homes for the tour. You do
not have to prepare your home alone! Some of our members will be happy to assist, if you wish. Please consider
your home or ask a friend. Women’s Club members are
reeters throughout each home. Your home will be decorated
by early December so you can relax and enjoy the season!
All members are encouraged to participate in the Christmas
Tour of Homes. We need your involvement in the following
areas: publicity, raffle, silent auction, greeters, and decorators. If you like to sew or make crafts, the Thimble Chicks
welcome your assistance with the beautiful ornaments they
are creating.
If you have questions, need additional information, or would like to
volunteer in a specific area, please
contact Terri Lane at 817/4918562 or [email protected].
