Nant Mill and Plas Power Woods Bersham ks 250m King’s Mill 4km Nant Mill Visitor Centre There has been a mill by the river at Nant for hundreds of years. An early mill was probably built for fulling (thickening) woollen cloth. The present mill was built in 1832 and was used for grinding corn. The building is now a Visitor Centre (open seasonally) which includes a gift shop, light refreshments and information leaflets along with Clywedog Valley Trail Nant Mill lies on the waymarked Clywedog Valley Trail. From here you can walk up the valley to Minera Lead Mines or down the valley as far as King’s Mill. As you walk through Plas Power Woods you are tracing the hoofprints of the horses that pulled their loads of limestone to the blast furnaces at Bersham Ironworks along part of iron master Wilkinson’s Waggonway. Following a section of the original Wilkinsons Wagonway, the Clywedog Valley was once a busy industrial route with horse-drawn wagons taking their heavy limestone load to the blast furnaces. The route now takes you through lovely woodland with historical features and relaxing places to rest. Nant Mill Visitor Centre (seasonal opening) offers a play area for young children and a shop for light refreshments.
