Nant Mill Visitor Centre
There has been a mill by the river at Nant for
hundreds of years. An early mill was probably
built for fulling (thickening) woollen cloth. The
present mill was built in 1832 and was used for
grinding corn.
The building is now a Visitor Centre (open
seasonally) which includes a gift shop, light
refreshments and information leaflets along with
Clywedog Valley Trail
Nant Mill lies on the waymarked Clywedog
Valley Trail. From here you can walk up the
valley to Minera Lead Mines or down the valley
as far as King’s Mill.
As you walk through Plas Power Woods you
are tracing the hoofprints of the horses that
pulled their loads of limestone to the blast
furnaces at Bersham Ironworks along part
of iron master Wilkinson’s Waggonway.

Clywedog Valley Trail
Perhaps walk along the Clywedog Valley Trail to Nant Mill
Visitor Centre and discover the history of the wood.
Following a section of the original Wilkinsons Wagonway,
the Clywedog Valley was once a busy industrial route with
horse-drawn wagons taking their heavy limestone load to
the blast furnaces.
The route now takes you through lovely woodland with
historical features and relaxing places to rest. Nant Mill
Visitor Centre (seasonal opening) offers a play area for
young children and a shop for light refreshments.
