Velkommen til DentaNet Symposium 2013
– igen med særskilte programmer til klinikassistenter og tandplejere!
Kære tandlæger og teams
Det glæder mig igen at kunne præsentere tre stærke DentaNet Symposium programmer til henholdsvis
tandlæger, tandplejere og klinikassistenter.
Tiltaget med programmer til tandplejere og klinikassistenter blev taget ud fra den betragtning, at
når tandlægen alligevel er væk fra klinikken, så er der ofte ikke så meget at lave – så hvorfor ikke
bruge tiden på også at opgradere resten af teamets viden. Det bevirker også, at alle om mandagen på
samme tid har haft en god faglig oplevelse krydret med et godt socialt aspekt - især hvis man også har
deltaget i netværksarrangementet sammen.
Programmet for tandlægerne når i 2013 nye højder, i det vi, som et af medlemmerne udtrykker det,
har gjort et kup. Dr. Pascal Magne vil hele fredagen øse af sin store viden omkring æstetik og han er
tit den person, som alle de andre verdensklasse talere og undervisere skeler til.

Lørdag vil de to tyskere Dr. Marcus Striegel og Dr. Thomas Schwenk fortælle om ”Red and White
Harmony”, hvor fokus især ligge på minimal invasive behandlinger herunder en ”�lapless crown
lengthening procedure”, som de har udviklet.
Dr. Tif Qureshi, som de �leste kender som Inman Aligner pioneren, vil lørdag eftermiddag undervise i Dahl’s
princip, som er en teknik, hvormed okklusionen kan styres bagtil samtidig at det skabes plads posteriort.
Jeg glæder mig til at se velkendte ansigter - såvel som nye - til to dage med høj faglig og aktuel viden inden
for æstetisk tandbehandling. Der skal allerede nu lyde en rigtig stor tak til de netværksmedlemmer,
der har givet input til programindhold og hjulpet med forslag og kontakt til talere.

Stort netværksarrangement og gallamiddag med live musik fredag
Fredag eftermiddag lige efter de faglige indlæg bydes der til netværksarrangement med snacks og
drinks. Her vil det være muligt at snakke med kollegaer, udstillere og samarbejdspartnere, inden vi
gør klar til stor fest om aftenen.
Der vil være galla middag med dress code og som altid deltager både fredagen og lørdagens talere fra
tandlægeprogrammet.
Når den tre retters menu og et par underholdende indslag er overstået, vil der blive spillet op til
dans ved DentaNet Symposium Live Band. Går du rundt med et veludviklet musisk talent, som du vil
bidrage med fra scenen i form af et nummer eller instrument, er der god mulighed for dette. Du skal
blot kontakte mig en lille måneds tid inden med dit forslag.

Summary
Continuous developments in the �ield of adhesive restorative techniques have permitted signi�icant broadening
of the originally-de�ined spectrum of indications for BPRs in the anterior dentition and thus contribute to two of
the major objectives of conservative restorative dentistry: the maximum preservation of sound tooth structure
and the maintenance of the vitality of the teeth to be restored.

The combination of both composites and ceramics seems theoretically appropriate to reproduce the original
stiffness of the tooth and modulate the tooth-restoration strength. Therefore, modern concepts in restorative
dentistry have brought new solutions through bonded porcelain restorations (BPRs) that are stress distributors
and involve the crown of the tooth as a whole in supporting occlusal force and masticatory function. Among
these, the good overall clinical behavior of anterior porcelain laminate veneers bonded tooth in terms of fracture
rates, microleakage, debonding and soft tissue response is generally well recognized and attested by numerous
clinical studies.
Indications for BPRs are extending to more perilous situations (worn-down, nonvital or
crown-fractured teeth), resulting in considerable improvements, comprising both the
medical-biological aspect and the socio-economical context (ie, decrease of costs when
compared to traditional and more invasive prosthetic treatments). From this perspective,
indications, treatment planning, diagnostics, tooth preparation, laboratory procedures
and adhesive luting procedures of BPRs will be carefully detailed.
About the speaker
Dr. Pascal Magne is an Associate Professor with Tenure and the Don and Sybil
Harrington Foundation Professor of Esthetic Dentistry in the Division of Restorative
Sciences, University of Southern California. Dr. Magne graduated from the University
of Geneva Dental School, Switzerland, in 1989 with a Med. Dent. Obtained his
Doctorate in 1992 and his Ph.D. degree in 2002.
He received postgraduate training in �ixed prosthodontics and occlusion, operative dentistry
and endodontics, and was a lecturer at the same university beginning in 1989 until 1997.
From 1997-1999, he was a Visiting Associate Professor at the Minnesota Dental Research
Center for Biomaterials and Biomechanics, University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry.
After concluding two years of research, Dr. Magne returned to University of Geneva Dental
School and assumed the position of Senior Lecturer in the Division of Fixed Prosthodontics
and Occlusion until his departure for USCSD in February 2004.
He is also the author of ca. 200 clinical and research publications on esthetics and adhesive
dentistry and is an internationally known lecturer on these topics. Furthermore, Dr.
Magne authored the book Bonded Porcelain Restorations in the Anterior Dentition - A
Biomimetic Approach which has been translated into eleven languages and is considered
as one of the most outstanding books in the �ield of adhesive and esthetic dentistry.

Summary of the lecture
In this lecture Dr. Schwenk and Dr. Striegel will talk about how you create a perfect smile by using minimum
invasive techniques in daily practice.
In the esthetic dentistry of today it is very important to care about the pink esthetics aswell.
Dr. Schwenk and Dr. Striegel are the inventors of the minimum invasive (�lapless) crown lengthening technique.
This method will be shown to you and is easy to learn.
In addition they will show you some other minimum invasive techniques that will improve your daily esthetic
results.

About the speakers:

Dr. Schwenk and Dr. Striegel �inished University in Erlangen/Germany in 1990 and 1992.
They are owners of one of the biggest dental of�ices all over Germany. Both are certi�ied specialists for esthetic
dentistry (DGÄZ).
They have lectured nationally and internationally since 1998 and have published many articles on esthetic dentistry,
function and restaurative dentistry.
Both are fellows of many national and international academies.

In this lecture, Dr. Tif Qureshi, President of the BACD will talk about how he uses the Dahl principle day to day
in restorative dentistry.
Tif will show how the Dahl principle can be used as an interceptive treatment combined with traditional occlusal
theory to prevent the need for more aggressive tooth preparation in your patients, either now or years down
the line.
The Dahl principle is a radically different approach to traditional occlusal techniques and will certainly give you
something to think about!
About the speaker
Tif Qureshi quali�ied from Kings College London in 1992. He is the current President of the British Academy of
Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a partner at Dental Elegance in Sidcup, Kent where he practices minimally invasive cosmetic
and restorative dentistry.
Tif has a special interest in simple orthodontics using removable appliances and was the �irst dentist in the UK to pioneer the Inman
Aligner and is Clinical Director of Straight-talks Seminars the only of�icial providers of the Inman Aligner certi�ication course.
Tif also pioneered the technique of combined alignment bleaching and bonding (ABB) and is has been a major force in developing
the concept of progressive smile design. He also employs the use of composite to enhance truly minimally invasive dentistry and is
a very experienced user of the Dahl principle. He now lectures nationally and internationally and has had many articles published
on these subjects. Tif is also a highly active member of the MICD movement. Tif is also a Fellow of the International Academy of
Facial and Dental Esthetics.
