Version 9.0 Software & Reference Architecture – Icehouse Release
The Rackspace Private Cloud software and reference architecture deliver a stable and scalable production-ready private cloud
powered by OpenStack®. It is designed and built by the experts who co-founded OpenStack and run one of the world’s largest
OpenStack-powered clouds. The Rackspace Private Cloud software is based on the Icehouse release of OpenStack and is built
without proprietary hooks ensuring you avoid the risk of vendor lock-in.
Advantages of Rackspace Private Cloud Include:
Automation – Unlocking the full power of your cloud requires automation. Rackspace Private Cloud automates
your cloud deployment and configuration management using Ansible software and also enables you to automate
provisioning of your infrastructure, services and applications using OpenStack Orchestration (Heat).
Enterprise-Grade Architecture – Includes an industry-leading 99.99% OpenStack uptime guarantee, is designed
to scale over 200 nodes and delivers high availability using a professional-grade, four-server control plane that
includes a clustered database and messaging service. It uses Linux containers for service deployment giving you the
flexibility to distribute services based on specific workload needs which can help increase scalability.
Security & Logging – Provides a secure, dedicated environment that includes two physical firewalls and audit
logs which can help you with compliance reporting. It also enables you to use your existing Open LDAP service to
authenticate users ensuring only those who are authorized can access your environment.
