WMTA Margaret Frank Bi-Annual Specialty Competition: Music of Russia and Soviet Satellite Composers Date: February 14, 2015 Time: This is an all-day event. Participants will be notified of their recital time after the deadline. Location: The National Presbyterian Church, Washington, DC Application fee: $ 22 per student Postmark deadline: January 14, 2015 Awards: -1st, 2nd and 3rd places are awarded. Honorable Mentions are given at the discretion of the judges. Winners receive ribbons. All students will receive critiques and certificates. ALL WMTA RULES APPLY. This competition is held in recital format. Eligibility: Students through the 12th grade. Special rules: - Each student is assigned to a recital group. Students are encouraged to arrive 20-30 minutes prior to the start of their recital group. Students who arrive late or do not stay for their entire session may play for comments only. - Students must provide the judges with scores of their pieces. All participants are responsible for complying with U.S. copyright law. For use of copied or downloaded materials, please refer to the WMTA General Rules. Repertoire requirements: - The 2015 Specialty Competition will feature the music of Russia and Soviet Satellite Composers. - There is no required piece. Students may play one single piece or several pieces. Time limits - Sections 1 through 6 are competitive and are open to pianists: → Section 1 (age 8 and under), 5-minute limit. → Section 2 (ages 9-10), 5-minute limit. → Section 3 (ages 11-12), 6-minute limit. → Section 4 (ages 13-14), 7-minute limit. → Section 5 (ages 15-16), 8-minute limit. → Section 6 (ages 17-18), 9-minute limit. - Section 7 is non-competitive and is open to solo pianists, instrumentalists, chamber groups, piano duets and vocalists (all age groups); 7-minute limit.
