Fall 2013 Classes & Demos
Tuesdays with Wendy Cardmaking classes
for everyone. Great for beginners and experienced
stampers. Join the fun! You will make 3 cards
during the class and learn new techniques.
These classes have continued to be very popular! Each session is
different. You never know what Wendy will be coming up with next!
Please bring a scissors & DOUBLE SIDED TAPE! Class cost $10

Journaling Explorations Just how does one go about creating a
beautiful and interesting journal? Have you always wanted to create one
but didn’t quite know how to go about it. You will learn how to get started,
layout and design and Suzie will share with you her many tips and tricks as
she has been journaling for many years. This will be a fun and busy day.
There will be a two hour break in the class for lunch and a special mission.
Along with a full packet of handouts, Suzie will supply you with other items
that she finds are a must when journaling. Please bring a 7X10 Pentalic
Field Journal 140lb w.c. paper, pencil, eraser, ruler, fine line waterproof
black pen (and watercolors & waterbrush if you have them.)

Iris Folding
Come learn this very old and yet simple technique to make beautiful
cards and artwork. Its all done with thin strips of paper or ribbons.
Come see the samples in store. It will be a fun afternoon!

Pushing the Limits
Now that you have demystified the Parallel Pen—we will push
the limits with this cool tool. This advanced class will focus on
using a variety of unique mediums and how to get them to work.
We will be using many products you may already own as well as
others you wouldn’t think to try. I will supply all of the mediums
that we will be working with along with the paper. This will be a
fun class full of color and potential that will really show you how
versatile this tool is. Prerequisite - Demystifying the Parallel Pen.

Gelli Plates Monoprinting on a Gelli plate is simple and fun.
The gratification is immediate, and the prints are very cool! Once
you start, you won’t be able to stop! Learn the basics and a some
advanced tips to help you get into Gelli monoprinting. Gelli Plate
required (8” x 10” size recommended)

line gives the artist the opportunity to create stunning photo style
landscapes using rubber stamps! The main focus of class will be
exploring basic composition in black and white. Creating scenes
using a variety of elements, foreground, background and framing.
You will also be introduced to coloring the images.
*Students will need to bring Colorbox stylus handles and foam pads.

Getting Started with Stampscapes
- Wendy has been stenciling
t-shirts for years and wearing the beautiful results. Come spend
the afternoon learning how and creating a one of a kind t-shirt.

Copperplate Calligraphy for Beginners This highly
anticipated class will introduce you to the graceful elegance of
Copperplate calligraphy. In this six week class, you will learn the
technique behind the “pointed pen” and even how to practice in
pencil! Whether you are brushing up on current skills or learning
calligraphy for the first time, you will rediscover an appreciation
for the handwritten word through the rhythmic beauty of this 18th
-19th century script. *Supply list required. See store for sample.

Calligraphy—“The Uncial Hand” What do 4th century Africa,
6th c. Italy, and 8th c. England have in common? Join me for six
weeks of “calligraphic time travel”, exploring the history and letter
formation of a calligraphy style called Uncial (pronounced ‘un-shul’).
Commonly associated with Celtic or Irish art, Uncial is in a class of
its own. Fourth to eighth century historical samples will be our guide
in learning a consistent, modernized form of this ancient calligraphic
hand. Uncial is perfectly suited for calligraphic beginners and those
with experience who wish to add a unique style to their lettering

The Mixed Media Fine Art Canvas This two day workshop will
explore the world of mixed media. The stars of this workshop are acrylic
paint, handmade-papers and spray web They will be accompanied by colored pencils, gold leaf, glitter, mica textures and more. You will create a 24”
x 24” one of a kind work of fine art. Come explore my world. You may bring
extra materials to include in your piece. Sample compositions at store.

Whimsical Letters This class will put a whimsical spin on
traditionally formal drawn letterforms—a fun and creative lettering
option for cards, scrapbooking, journaling, and more! Come prepared to give these letters your own personality and color. Please
bring a pencil, white plastic eraser, ruler, and colored pencils.

Shrink Plastic Gold This is not junior’s shrinky dinks anymore.”
By the end of the class you will have taken Shrink Plastic to a new
level. We will be making layered jewelry pieces with— yes—shrink
plastic and metals!! These pieces make wonderful gifts but you will
probably want to keep some for yourself. We will also cover some
other cool Shrink Plastic techniques. You will walk away with a
finished jewelry piece. Samples at store. Please ask for supply list

The Hardbound Beaded Journal In this unique hardcover
book each section of pages is sewn into the spine and embellished with beads, creating a stunning visual effect. Students will
have a variety of papers & beads to select from to personalize
their one of a kind book. Students will be lead through a step by
step instruction which will include cutting papers to size, creating
the hardbound cover, sewing the sections in place and embellishing with the bead selections. Beginners and advanced students
are welcome *Please bring a heavy duty awl to class.
(Students may choose to bring their own papers and beads to class)

Going Postal! We’re thinking ahead for Christmas and
Valentine’s Day! Start thinking of your envelopes as the “gift
wrap” of your cards! Come and gather some creative ideas for
addressing envelopes that will make the post office smile. We
will work on basic lettering ideas, formatting your “envies” in cool
ways, and decorative elements with stickers, rubber stamps,
markers and Parallel Pens. Please bring a pencil, eraser, and
your favorite pens.
