HY GET INVOLVED— SAMA
began the bowling tournament to promote
teambuilding within member companies
and to provide a fun day of entertainment for the entire
family. It’
s now developed into not only an event for
fun, but more importantly, a fundraiser for the San
Antonio Food Bank and a way for SAMA to give back
to the community.
Now, because of the stagnant economy and area
layoffs, the SA Food Bank is swamped with requests for emergency food. Even though the
SAFB is salvaging and receiving more food than
ever before (more than 44 million pounds in FY
2010), census and poverty statistics clearly show
the San Antonio Food Bank is a long way from
meeting the need. Meeting the need in our area,
using respected methodology, equates to recovering and distributing a little over 44 million pounds
of food to the area’s hungry and poor.
Last year, SAMA members raised 197,637 lbs.
of food. Help make this
year even more successful by participating in the
Food Drive and/or Bowl
in
the
Tournament!
Help SAMA Help the Food
Bank Strike-Out Hunger.
