For the Week of 19th October 2014

For the Week of 19th October 2014
Nat and I are blessed to have witnessed the birth of the
PP congregation, participated in her growth and be part
of the celebration of its golden jubilee.
The congregation was started with the vision, faith and
leadership of brother Ong Aun Nam. The A.L. Harbins
and Pence Dacuses led this new work in the first 3 years.
Brother Henry Kong entered full-time ministry on May
1966, and has served all these years. It is because of
God’s faithfulness that the congregation thrived and
prospered to this day, celebrating her 50th Homecoming
tonight. These are some of the many lessons we have
learned through the years:
1. God is faithful. Despite of our shortcomings, problems and limitations; He watches, provides and blesses.
2. What appeared weak and hopeless to human eyes,
God can use to His glory. Pictured above is the
congregation in 1969, when it was 5 years old. It was
still a youth’s church, with the majority in Secondary
school. Though the early missionaries were frustrated
that there were only a handful of adult conversions, God
sustained the young converts and the church grew.
3. When we trusted God to provide, and stepped out of
the boat in faith, with the little we have, God enabled PP
to purchase property, erect a church building and reach
out in missions.

FOCUS
Right: Today, we bring the year-long Jubilee celebrations to its climax, with Missions Sunday in the morning and our 50th Homecoming this evening.
A special welcome to over 50 overseas guests who
are in Singapore to celebrate with us our Golden Jubilee Grand Dinner and 50th Homecoming at 6pm this
evening.
What a wonderful time we had at the Golden Jubilee
Grand Dinner this past Friday. It was a celebration on
such a scale that we have not experienced in Singapore
before. We thank elder Beng Chuan for leading the
charge and many who contributed to the event that
will forever be etched into our memory.
Brother H.M. Motsinger will speak at both our morning
services as well as the annual Missions Seminar at
9:30am. Refreshments will be served following.
Let’s all return at 6pm for our 50th Homecoming. Elder Monte Stephens from Quail Springs will be our
keynote speaker. A DVD of the video taken at the
Golden Jubilee Grand Dinner will be given to attendees.
A buffet dinner will follow the event. Invite a
former member to come with you.
Together with today’s FOCUS, is a special pictorial
supplement of the highlights of the Golden Jubliee Grand
Dinner on Friday. You can access the videos from our
webpage, www.ppcoc.org > Resources > Church Videos as soon as we upload them on YouTube or pick up
a free DVD tonight at our 50th Homecoming.
Take a look at the recent photographs of our missions
fields on the back page as well as on the monitor at
the lobby. More missions Sunday envelopes are at our
ushers’ trays at the lobby for your use.
It is great that our missions interest groups (eg China,
Indonesia) are taking advantage of the presence of
many overseas guests for special sessions.
Many thanks to brother Mark Hooper for the Jubilee
Missions Seminar yesterday, attended by both members and overseas guests. At lunch, we celebrate the
engagement of brother Genesis Jumao-as and sister
Paul Crista Acedo with a cake.
