President’s Letter
Fall has finally arrived, and the weather has become delightful. We actually managed to (finally) get our kayak trip in, without rain on
that day! And we had a great day on the beach at Gene Youtsey's. The weather was cloudy, but actually it was better than bright hot
sunshine for all of us!
Please make sure that you join our facebook group: Coastal Ski and Outing Club. There are 35 members already. We will be posting
more and more pictures and information on this medium. Once you ask to join, and you become a member, you will receive an email
for all future postings on that site. If you have any questions about how to do this, please contact David Salisch 910-579-5503.
Our Club membership continues to grow; we're about 75 now! And last month we had 40 members attend our monthly meeting at
Logan's. That's pretty impressive! This Club is all about having fun at social events, and the more you get involved and do things
with us, the better you'll get to know other members, and enjoy life! The activities are being planned by various members, and the
participation lately has been great! A big thanks to members who have stepped up and volunteered to coordinate events! Specifically,
Mary Alice Blackburn and Gene Youtsey for September's activities, and Judy Bledsoe and Lorraine Krafft for October's events.
If you have any special activity that you'd like to include in the activities calendar, please talk to one of the Board members; we
always welcome new ideas!
Don't forget to start working on your Halloween outfit! Our party at the State Park promises to be lots of fun! Maybe even spooky!!

News from our Crescent Rep Dave Bates
We have 6 people going to the Crescent Ski Council ski trip to
Aspen/Snowmass -- Dave & Wendy Bates, Faith Campbell, Bev
Kradel, Susan Arzberger and Jim Romano. Have a 3 bedroom condo
reserved for our club. If anyone else interested, please let me know.
Note: people flying into Denver must arrive before 1 pm to catch bus
to Aspen & return flight must be after 1 pm so bus can get you to
airport for flights. Any questions, call me at 775-825-5375 or email

Also, I have been looking at homes in Snowshoe ski resort, West
Virginia. Need to find out who might be interested in going so I can
decide on the size house we need to reserve. Please let me know if
you might be interested. Either call or email me. Will probably either
be Feb. 8-12 or Feb. 22-26. The sooner I have an idea, the sooner I
will be able to reserve a place to fit us. For more information, please

We Got Together!!!
OCTOBER MEMBERSHIP MEETING
We partied in September! We had about ten people for the First
Friday dinner & movie at Gordon Biersch at Market Commons. A
great dinner & best of all, great companionship, was enjoyed by all.
At our September regular meeting at Logan's Roadhouse, we had
fun auctioning "treasures" to one another. The members brought stuff
they didn't need anymore & the items found new homes with other
members. (One person was talking with their hands during the
auctioneering & "accidentally" bought the item being auctioned...
which only goes to say... you have to pay attention at an auction - tee
hee). We collected about $150 from the auction & then gave half of it
back to members via raffle ticket drawings.
A few of us braved the weather & enjoyed GREAT blues, jazz &
beach music at LaBelle Ami on Saturday, Sept. 13. After some
morning showers, we had a beautiful day with wine, fries & music
with our newest members, Janice & Jim Skalski. The sax player was
extremely good playing during breaks from the headliner band.
On Saturday, Sept. 20, Gene Youtsey graciously hosted a beach
party at his condo (on the beach) in North Myrtle Beach. We played
lots of bocce ball; ate LOTS of delicious chicken & other side
dishes, & had LOTS & LOTs of FUN as is shown in the crazy
pictures. If you weren't there, you missed a great party!
Thursday, Sept. 25 was a FIRST for our club... we actually
volunteered for a community clean up event on the Waccamaw
River. About eight of our members got a FREE boat ride on the
Waccamaw River Tour Boat & all they had to do was pick up a little
trash along the beach areas. We took box lunches & drinks
& picnicked after we were done picking up. A very fun morning &
all felt good afterwards for their efforts.

CARE COMMITTEE
There are two members of our Ski Club family who are seriously ill,
and deserve your prayers! Boyd Walters (who has been suffering
from Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS) for about a year now), Ed Spiller
who was in G.S. Hospital. Please keep them all in your thoughts &
prayers!
