Dear colleagues,
dear friends of vascular medicine,
A particular characteristic of the GMS is to keep with tradition.
As in previous years, both national and internationally reputable guests shall present
themes of vascular medicine and constructively deal with topics of controversy within our
field. Our 29th GMS will also allow time for interdisciplinarity, interprofessionality and, of
course, time for discussion.
As a highlight, at the beginning of our scientific programme, on Thursday afternoon, we
shall once again put vascular medical innovations under scrutiny in our topic News in
Vascular Medicine. On Friday morning the Angiological Forum will focus its sights on young
vascular patients – a clinically relevant, highly interesting theme and rarely dealt with.
Keeping again with tradition, our sources of hope will have their say in the Forum for young
Vascular Physicians on Friday evening. Stimulated by a competition for prizes for the best
three lectures, we expect a meeting with a broad range of themes and, clearly, a
challenging content - an evening which should not be missed. On Saturday we shall
continue the discussion concerning Dogmas in Vascular Medicine. In addition to this
traditional programme feature, we will comprehensively cover venous obstructions and rare
vascular diseases. Both themes are of highly clinical relevance and deserve our full
attention. This also applies to aortoiliac occlusions, to which we dedicate our concluding
session on Saturday.
In addition to this lecture programme, the 29. GMS 2014 will once again offer many certified
courses and workshops on Thursday – all well worth attending.
9
Berlin is always worth a visit – particularly when a visit to this pulsating multicultural
metropolis can be combined with a visit to the GMS.
With this in mind, we would like to wish you a warm welcome to our capital.
