NOTICE TO COMPETITORS
SAFETY of the dogs is our primary concern.
BY ENTERING THIS TRIAL, competitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this
sport, and that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all obstacles safely.
IT IS EXPRESSLY UNDERSTOOD that competitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dog(s) and / or
children. Any competitor whose dog(s) and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in
unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the show committee, be asked to leave the show site. In that
case, no refund of any fees paid will be made.
WORKERS: Volunteers are the heart of an agility trial. Without you we can’t do it! Please volunteer to work at least
one class each day. Thank you! A pot luck lunch will be provided to volunteers 
PRIZES & AWARDS:
Placement ribbons will be awarded for 1st through 4th place in each level in each class. Qualifying ribbons will be
awarded to all dogs receiving a qualifying score.

completing Level 5 Champion titles and Level C Extraordinaire titles.

rosettes.
Dogs with an “NT” (no time) are not eligible for any ribbons.
In addition to the above-listed awards, we will be offering the “Dilly Award” which will be awarded to all those
who fail to qualify in every one of their entered runs. All scores must have a recorded time.
DISCIPLINARY PROBLEMS will be reviewed by the Trial Committee, and appropriate action WILL be taken if
necessary. Please keep your dog a safe distance from other dogs. Not cleaning up after yourself, your guests, and

General CPE rules for entries/show site:







Dogs must be at least 15 months or older the first day of the trial
Blind (both eyes), lame, in season or aggressive dogs may not enter the show. The Club
may choose to exclude any of the above from the site.
Dogs must be registered with CPE prior to the closing date of the trial, or by the trial date
for Day Of Show entries. Registration forms are on the Forms page: www.k9cpe.com.
Forms MUST be mailed to CPE and are processed 2-3 times per week. CPE ID numbers
are emailed to legible email addresses. Registrations can only be processed from mailed
forms.
Dogs must be able to be measured at their first show. If a dog cannot be measured, the
dog cannot run and no refund will be issued. Dogs within ½” of a jump height require at
least one more measurement. When dogs reach their second birthday, a measurement is
required. All dogs must be measured at their first trial regardless of jump height.
Only CPE Judges can measure dogs.
Electronic shock collars are not allowed at ANY CPE trial – training or bark.
Handlers in all classes are permitted to walk the course, without a dog, prior to the start
of the class. A warm-up jump shall be provided for all entered dogs. No relieving of
dogs in the warm-up area.
the leash at the finish may put their leash in their pocket – the leash must be out
of sight.
Dogs must be under the handler’s control when leaving the ring or the judge may
enter the run as No Time - NT.
Training a dog in the ring during a run
There is no training in the ring at a CPE agility trial. First offense will result in an
excusal from the run. Further offenses will result in additional excusals for the
day/weekend per the judge’s discretion. This is for the safety of the dog.
The following items are not considered training in the ring (also see FEO):
 Dog grabbing its leash at the end of a run (if the run has not yet ended, the
dog would receive an NT)
 Asking the dog once for a sit or down on the table in the point games
(asking more than once will be a delay of finish, 5 faults/points)
The following items are considered training in the ring:
 Violating the 4 paw safety rule (directing the dog back onto the contact)
 Start line stay – leaving the dog and going back again to reposition the
dog after the handler passes the plane of the first obstacle (before the handler
leaves the dog, repositioning or repeated commands can be a delay of start)
 Putting the dog back on the table in the point games
While running on course
 The handler will direct the dog through the course without a collar or lead.
 Food, toys, training devices (includes fanny packs and leash attachments) are
not allowed within 10’ feet of the ring. Clickers, training whistles and squeaky
toys are not to be used within distraction distance of the ring.
 The handler may not carry anything that could aid the dog in its performance.
Exclusion: Handicapped/Differently Abled Handlers using a cane, scooter,
wheelchair, etc., to enable their progression around the course.
The handler may use any verbal or visual commands to direct the dog through the
course. The Judge may assess a 5 fault penalty to elimination for any command that
is not given in a sportsmanlike manner. Faults can be, but are not limited to: foul or
abusive language, display of anger, extreme frustration or excessive harshness. If the
fault is severe enough, the Judge has the right to excuse the exhibitor from the ring
and / or the remainder of the trial. If excused from the trial, a report would be filed
with CPE. See Faults, Eliminations and Excusals in the rulebook.
Questions? See the rules page on the website, www.k9cpe.com or your printed
rulebook. If you have further questions, email CPE – [email protected].
Dogs in the ring, leashes, exiting the ring
 Dogs shall run without anything attached to its body. This is for the safety of the dog.
Run Safe, Have Fun, Run Fast, Run Clean!
This includes no: collars, stitches, wraps or any other item. The only exception is a
small barrette or rubber band to keep hair out of a dog’s eyes.
 Leashes may not have anything (other than name/license tags) attached to them when used in the ring.
 Dogs may enter the ring on a collar, quick release harness or head halti/leader. If prong
collars are allowed per the show site, they may not be used to take a dog into the ring.
 Handlers may not carry their leash with them on the course – if done so, an NT will
result. Exception: Handicapped handlers that have a mobility problem in picking up

SOME MOTEL COURTESIES TO OBSERVE
Cover the motel’s bedding with a sheet, whether or not you think your dog will get on the bed.
Make every effort to have your dog free of fleas BEFORE arriving.
Of course, as is standard agility procedure, the dog’s handler/owner will pick up all poop.
Please bag and dispose of it properly.
Don’t leave your dog(s) unattended. If you must leave, either take them with you, or leave them crated.
Even the best of dogs can get carried away having fun in a motel room without you present.
DOG FRIENDLY MOTELS
IT IS STRONGLY SUGGESTED THAT YOU MAKE MOTEL RESERVATIONS ASAP. It is the competitor’s responsibility to check with each hotel on its current
dog policy when booking reservations.

JUNIOR HANDLERS: Juniors under the age of 18 years get a 50% discount on classes! Please be sure to include the Junior’s date of

ENTRY FORMS: Competitors are responsible for completing the entry form accurately with legible information.
MOVE-UPS DURING THE TRIAL: AC-Me and TSS are offering move-ups at the trial in classes that are offered more than once.
Please submit your request for a move-up within 30 minutes of the scores being posted for the class.
WAITING LIST: If necessary, a waiting list will be maintained, and will be published on the TSS web site. The list will be updated
frequently as entries are received. If you do not see your name on either the List of Competitors OR the Waiting List within a week of
mailing your entry, please let us know! NOTE: If you are placed on the waiting list, please let us know right away if you are willing to
switch days (if you entered only 1 day), or if you are willing to come only 1 of the 2 days (if you entered both days). It is suggested that if
you mail an entry for this trial after TSS has posted a waiting list, to please send 1 check for each day you wish to enter.
QUESTIONS ON ENTRIES: First attempt at resolving an issue on an entry form will be made by email. If no response is received by
the competitor within a reasonable amount of time, the Trial Secretary will telephone. Please include a legible phone number and a legible
e-mail address on your entry form. Illegible or incomplete entries cannot be entered in the trial.
BAD CHECKS for ANY reason will incur a charge of $30 plus bank charges. “Bad Checks” are defined as ANY check that does not
clear our bank the FIRST time it is deposited. All entry fees will be deposited immediately following the closing date. Please plan
accordingly.
FOREIGN CHECKS/COMPETITORS: Fees must be submitted in United States Funds. Also, if your money order, business check or
personal check is not written on a United States bank account, include an additional $10 fee with your entries.
REFUNDS: Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused, or barred from competition by action
of the show committee. There shall be no refunds for entries withdrawn after the closing date. However, up to a 50% refund of entry fees
may be given for injuries to dogs or handlers, if the request is received in writing by the Trial Secretary ON OR BEFORE the pretrial
moveup date. The request MUST be in writing and MUST be accompanied by a dated letter from your Veterinarian (or Doctor, if the
injury is to the handler) on your Veterinarian’s or Doctor’s letterhead with a brief description explaining the reason the dog, or the handler,
cannot compete. Also, no entry fee will be refunded if the trial cannot open or be completed by reasons of riots, civil disturbances, fire,
acts of God, public emergency, an act of a public enemy, or any other cause beyond the control of the organizing committee.
PRE-CONFIRMATIONS: Pre-Confirmations will be emailed as entries are received. PLEASE let us know if you have not received
yours within a week of mailing your entry.
FINAL CONFIRMATIONS: Final Confirmation of entry will be emailed within seven days of the trial date to all competitors that
provide a legible email address. PLEASE let the Trial Secretary know if you have not received your confirmation by then.
DON’T WAIT! Please don’t wait until the day before the trial, or a few days before the trial to READ YOUR
CONFIRMATIONS! It’s important that you check ALL information on ALL confirmations! A fee of $10 PER CHANGE will be
imposed if any changes are made late! If your dog is entered as a veteran, make sure there is a “V” by the armband number. If you
entered as an enthusiast, there will be a “T”, and if entered as a specialist, there will be “S”. Check the jump height and all other
information . Please read your confirmations (ALL of them). We would rather you have correct entries, than charge you
money!

includes if there was a correction to a scribe sheet – the handler must verify that the results were corrected as well.
