General Information
SIC and euroSIC modules are available to SIX SIS clients for payment transfers within the
extended Swiss Value Chain. Cash transactions are settled in Swiss francs and euros via a
single interface and in real time. The new modules enable clients to seamlessly manage their
liquidity.
What are SIC and euroSIC?
Swiss Interbank Clearing operates the electronic payment system SIC for CHF transactions
on behalf of the Swiss financial institutions. Payment transactions between financial
institutions are effected through SIC online and in realtime. Since the implementation of the
Continuous Linked Settlement (CLS) system in autumn 2002, SIC has been directly linked to
the global settlement system for foreign exchange transactions.
The euroSIC payment system, based on SIC and developed by Swiss Interbank Clearing on
behalf of the Swiss financial institutions, has been operational since January 1999. In
euroSIC, Switzerland – which is not a member of the EU – avails of a direct link to the
national euro RTGS (real-time gross settlement) systems of the EU.

Message Types
This User Manual explains the message types (MT) available in webMAX. All MT are defined
in the SIC user manual. For smooth and error-free entry of SIC or euroSIC orders, all fields
marked with an asterisk (*) must be filled in. In this context, SIC clients are kindly asked to
note that detailed information is provided in the user manuals of Swiss Interbank Clearing.

A10 Client Payment
MT A10 is used for processing mass payment transactions. With this message type, client
payments can be processed automatically in bank B provided a beneficiary account number
or the IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is indicated.
webMAX Professional Serie: webMAX SIC/euroSIC path: Orders > Client Payments > Client
Payment A10 > Client Payment (MT A10)
2.2
A11 Extended Client Payment
MT A11 corresponds to MT A10. All additional fields are optional. They are mainly used for
forwarding messages in more complex cases. This message type is based on SWIFT MT103
(Single Customer Credit Transfer/"core" version), i.e. all fields that could possibly appear if
the message was used in an RTGS system are displayed.

A15 Extended VESR Payment (only allowed in SIC)
webMAX SIC path: Orders > Client Payments > Extended VESR Payment A15 > Extended
VESR Payment (MT A15)
MT A15 is used to transmit VESR payments (VESR: procedure for payment slips with a
reference number) made by bank clients in favour of PostFinance clients. If a payment is
made under the VESR participant number of a SIC participant and this participant number is
available in the bank clearing segment (BC), the payment will be directly forwarded to the
corresponding BC number within the SIC platform.

In MT A15, expenses may be specified (including those credited to PostFinance). In field 18,
a valid BC number must be entered.
2.4
B10 Provision of Coverage
webMAX SIC/euroSIC path: Orders > Bank Payments > Provision of Coverage B10 >
Provision of Coverage (MT B10)
MT B10 is exclusively used for the provision of cover between clearing banks. The payment
code as well as the A and B reference (the entry of which is mandatory) allow bank B to
identify the underlying transaction.

B11 Bank to Bank Transfer
MT B11 is used for interbank payments. This message type is restricted to those cases
where both the instructing party and the beneficiary are a banking institution. In such cases it
is mandatory to use MT B11.
webMAX SIC/euroSIC path for webMAX Professional Serie: Orders > Bank Payments >

2.6
D10 Direct Debit
webMAX SIC/euroSIC path: Orders > Direct Debit D10 > Direct Debit Instruction (MT D10)
MT D10 is used to transmit direct debit instructions from the Creditor-FI (financial institution
of the receiving party) to SIC/euroSIC or from SIC/euroSIC to the Debtor-FI (financial
institution of the paying party). MT D10 does not entail clearing in SIC/euroSIC. Payments
due to a direct debit instruction are subsequently effected by the Debtor-FI via MT A10 or MT
A15. The use of the terms debtor (paying party) and creditor (receiving party) strictly follows
the expected cash flow. The BC numbers, however, are used as in payment instructions: BC
no. A = bank sending MT D10; BC no. B = bank receiving MT D10.
2.7
F10 Service Funds Transfer
webMAX SIC/euroSIC path: Reports > Cancellations Bank A > Report of Cancellations Bank
A (MT L55) > (Message Type) Service Funds Transfer
MT F10 is used for payments emanating from transactions processed in other funds transfer
applications. In such cases, both the sender and the receiver are the respective funds
transfer application (e.g. SECOM).
