October 1 – Starter Company (Presented by the City of Toronto) - Between the ages of 18 and 29 and looking to start a business or grow an
existing one? If so Starter Company is for you!
October 3 & 24 – NEXT STEPS Employment Advisor by Appointment: *Must bring SIN Card, Government Issued piece of ID and
Resume* Meet with an Employment Advisor to learn about eligibility for retraining and employment incentive programs.
October 6 – Employer Accommodations & Disclosure Workshop for People with Disabilities – Spinal Cord Ontario: “Disclosing your
Disabilities – should you? Shouldn’t you? When and How.” Accommodations: Types – Resources and Funding Available.
October 8 - Centennial College - The Second Career Program Presentation: A Centennial College representative will share information
on the process of applying through Second Career at Centennial, discuss eligibility, and give tips on how to succeed as a student.
October 10 – Community Outreach Canada Information Session: Learn about ODSP Employment Supports Service Provider, our
experienced Job Developer Team assists people with disabilities through assessment, one-to-one consultation and support, resume
writing, on-going coaching, job searching and placement.
October 16 – ACCESSIBILITY JOB FAIR: Meet a variety of employers, potential on-site interviews with some Employers (*call to register
and get updated list of employers who will be present)
October 17 – Youth & Supply Chair (Presented by MicroSkills): Youth in Supply Chain is a unique program for youth between the ages
of 18 to 29 years old; who are out of school and ready for full time training. The program provides 16 weeks on workplace essential
training and 8 weeks of paid placement in the Supply Chain industry.
October 20 – Support for People with Disabilities Information Session (Presented by JVS): Government support/resources, and
application processes available in the community
October 21 – Let’s make it Work Employment for Youth with Disabilities Presented by Corbrook: Get support finding employment
using employment partnership programs
October 22 – Ontario March of Dimes (OMD) Group Session: Group orientation and sign-up with OMD to receive various services and
get ongoing case management and job development.
October 31 - An Introduction to the Accessibility of Ontarians with Disabilities Act: Learn about the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act –
its five accessibility standards and how they are making Ontario accessible
EMPLOYMENT SKILLS WORKSHOPS
October 3,7,14,&28 - Resume Reviews & Job Coaching: Meet one-on-one with an expert to have your resume reviewed for
improvements. Bring your resume and a job description for a position you are interested in pursuing.
October 6 – Interview Skills and Practice Workshop: Here is your opportunity to practice your interview skills in a safe environment.
We will provide you with constructive feedback to help you improve your skills.
October 15 - Resume and Cover Letters Workshop: Attend a workshop with an instructor who will guide you through creating a resume
and cover letter.
COMPUTER SKILLS WORKSHOPS
October 1&2, 21&22- MS Word for Your Job Search (Parts 1-4): Learn to create documents, like resumes and covering letters
October 7&8, 29&30 - MS Excel to Organize Your Job Search (Parts 1-4): * Must have basic computer skills using MS Word* Learn how
to create and use spreadsheets as a tool to stay organized.
October 27&28 - MS Access as a Job Search Tool (Parts 1-4): *Must have skills using MS Word and MS Excel* this two-day computer
tutorial teaches you to create databases, and how you could use ACCESS as part of your job search.
