Protect yourself, loved ones and patients
Centers for Disease
Control and
Prevention (CDC)
recommends a yearly
influenza vaccination as the first and
most important step
in protecting yourself
and your loved ones
from influenza illness.
Receiving the annual
flu vaccination is the
best way to reduce the chances that you will get the flu
and lessens the chance that you will spread it to others.
cination for healthcare workers at http://www.cdc.gov/
flu/healthcareworkers.htm.
Why get vaccinated? *
• Influenza (the flu) can be a serious disease that can
lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death.
Anyone can get very sick from the flu, including
people who are otherwise healthy.
• You can get the flu from patients and coworkers
who are sick with the flu.
• If you get the flu, you can spread it to others even if
you don’t feel sick.
• By getting vaccinated, you help protect yourself,
your family at home, and your patients.
Flu vaccine shots will be available at Employee Health
during normal business hours beginning Oct. 1. In addition, Employee Health will work with individual departments to administer flu shots upon request. Please
contact Employee Health for more information.
Flu vaccine facts *
• The seasonal flu vaccine protects against the influenza viruses that research indicates will be most
common during the upcoming season.
• Flu vaccines CANNOT cause the flu.
• Flu vaccines are safe.
