Cranbrook Motocross
Does your child (or you) enjoy the thrill of motorbike
riding?
Do you want to improve your riding skills beyond the
railway tracks, 4wd tracks or farm paddocks?
If so have you considered joining a motorcycling WA affiliated club?
Motocross is the off-road sport for you if slamming
whoops, carving berms and flying high over jumps is
your idea of fun. One of the most popular Motorcycling
sports, Motocross is run on tracks shaped from natural
terrain and produces fast, close and exciting racing. Motocross is a physically demanding form of Motorcycle
Sport and tests both rider and their machines to the
limit.
Before you go out and spend heaps on a bike and gear,
we suggest you contact the Club Secretary. They can help
by advising you on just what kind of gear you’ll need to
get. Usually, to start riding you’ll need a suitable motorcycle and the right protective equipment, including a
helmet, gloves, goggles and boots.

All riders of a Motorcycling WA affiliated club will need
to get a MA licence. This is rider accident insurance. It
can be either competitive or non competitive and annual
or one event.
Junior motocross riders (between the age of 7-16) who
want to compete in a Club competition for a trophy
prize, are required to get an MA licence, know the basic

Robyn Siegert made a Life Member of the Albany Netball Association
For more than 15 years, Robyn has shown wonderful dedication to the Cranbrook
Netball Club and as a committee member of the ANA. Robyn coaches and does the
administration for the Cranbrook Netball teams. She supports the teams every Saturday in Albany on game days, and regularly umpires. Robyn is Record keeper for
the Albany Netball Association and attends monthly committee meetings.

Have fun and get involved with Denmark Surf Life Saving Club
The Denmark Surf Life Saving Club, based at Ocean Beach, is an inclusive social community organisation
that offers something for everyone. All are welcome, from seven to one hundred and seven, with both
active and social memberships available.
It is a great place to make new friends, have fun, learn about ocean safety and get some exercise - the
club rooms are based right on the beach and have some of the best views in Denmark. The qualified volunteer surf life savers patrol Ocean Beach during the weekends and over the summer school holidays
helping locals and tourists alike and saving lives. Every Sunday children and adults meet for a morning
of exercise, learning and adventure including an optional supervised club swim.

DENMARK CRICKET CLUB INC.
The Denmark Cricket Club, Senior & Junior, are preparing for a big season in 2014/15.
The Senior Club have an A grade team in the Albany Cricket Association. Dan Robson has been appointed A
grade captain for the season and he has a young team full of potential at this disposal. Players to watch this season include legendary run-maker Peter Ross, 2012/13 association Leading wicket taker Brad Stewart, plus youngsters Liam Higgins & Fynn Underwood.
Dan said, “It is a season full of promise. The combination of experience and youthful exuberance is exciting for
Denmark Cricket Club. The development of young players is a priority. And watch this space as these players,
along with our seasoned campaigners make an impact during the 2014/15 season”.
The Juniors’ will have an Under 12’s team competing in the Albany Junior Cricket Association and are striving to
have an Under 14’s for the first time in some while. The Under 10’s and In2Cricket look again to be popular, playing every Saturday from 8.30am. The Club is also a registered Kidsport club which will assist families with their
fees.
President Greg Cracknell said, “With the Club making A Grade finals 2 seasons ago, players now realised what it
takes to take their game to the next level. Junior Cricket is now starting to flourish in Denmark due to the tremendous support of both kids and parents”.
“The Club is looking forward to a successful season as we strive for our elusive first A grade flag in the Albany
Cricket Association”.
The Senior’s season will once again tip off with the Pre-season 20/20 Competition held in Denmark on Saturday
11th October from 10am, with the final played under lights at the fantastic Mclean Park ground. The Club would
love to see past players and interested community members down at the ground to cheer on the local side.

Denmark Riverside Club Presentation of next year enabling young people access and use of
Riverside facilities, supervised by staff of Tha House
$5000 to Tha House
On Friday 5th September Maureen Cowdell, Vice
President of the Riverside Club presented a Cheque
for $5000 to Clare Harrison of Tha House.
The presentation followed on from the agreed collaborative project between the Shire of Denmark
and the Denmark Riverside Club.
Tha House is a “ Youth drop in centre” and the
money is to be spent to help and assist Clare to prepare a “Healthy Living” program. Once a month a
Guest speaker will present the workshop on a range
of topics such as – food preparation, eating right,
growing simple gardens/ plants and well- being.
A school holiday program will be prepared for the

Glen Burton was paid by the club to
run some junior Basketball training in
Primary Schools for 5 weeks. The
Club has seen an increase in Junior
girls joining up this season as a result.

It is intended that on completion of this project successive programs and agreed outcomes will be entered into for successive years.

The Denmark Dragon Boat had a wonderful celebration on the 13th September, the dinner and dance followed our
AGM which celebrated the beginning of a new era as we formally close DDBC to now come completely under the
umbrella of the Denmark Riverside Club Inc. We are now embarking on a membership drive to encourage more
participation. We have a Free Event to come and try dragon boating planned for Oct 12th as part of the Outdoors
October Promotion.

Mount Barker Golf and Bowls
The Mount Barker Golf club is to host the 2016 GOLFWA Men's State Sandgreens Championships. This was announced at the conclusion of the 2014 championships held in Katanning. The event will be held over 4 days in the
second week in August, approximately 200 golfers will participate, which will result in benefits for the club and the
district. Club Golf Championships will be played in October to conclude the 2014 season. The men's 4BBB Matchplay Championships have been decided, the champions are Peter Steicke and Jeff Moir they defeated Don Pomery
and Frank Bradshaw 4/2 in the final. Dave Pearce and Phil Baker were successful in the plate final, winning from
Ian Bateman and Chris Gardner 2/1.Kerry Steicke has won the State "Silver Spoon" competition playoff for
Sandgreen Clubs. Our Club Opening Day for 2014/15 Bowls season will be held on 5th October, pennants will start
for Ladies on October 4th and for men on 8th November. A five week season of Community Bowls will commence
on Thursday evening 13th November and finish on Thursday 11th December, any one interested to participate will
be very welcome
West Plantagenet Pony Club Celebrates
50 years
2014 marks the 50th Anniversary of West Plantagenet Pony Club.
Show Jumping, Eventing and Games. Most recently representing Australia with current member,
Victoria Squire, competing at the Tetrathlon in
Perth. The Tetrathlon is a combination of Horse
riding, swimming, running and shooting.
All Past and Present members were invited to attend
the rally on Sunday the 5th October at the grounds
from 10am for morning tea, lunch and a get together.
The Pony Club members have included several generations of the same family with some current riders
having Grandparents who were involved from the
beginning.
West Plantagenet Pony Club is one of 68 affiliated
clubs within Western Australia. We are a member
of the Great Southern Zone and are located on Martagallup Rd Tenterden, West of Kendenup.
Hundreds of members have enjoyed Rallies, One
Day Events, Camps, Shows and Gymkhanas. Wonderful memories have been created and friends
made at the Pony Club Grounds which have a charm
all of their own!
The club was first formed in 1962 and was called
The Perrillup Pony Club with instructors Mrs Val
Symons and Mrs Norma Squire. With maintained
strong interest, the club affiliated with PCAWA in
February 1964 and became West Plantagenet Pony
Club. On June 26th 1965 the club moved to Martagallup School Reserve and still uses these grounds
today.
