Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this meeting, the participant will
be able to:
• Apply updated knowledge of the new lipid guidelines to
clinical practice
• Demonstrate increased competence in the diagnosis of
skin lesions
• Develop a conceptual framework for balancing the
perioperative risk of bleeding and thrombosis for patients
taking antithrombotic medications
• Apply updated knowledge to the treatment of patients
with pneumonia
• Recognize the cost implications of testing and treatment
• Understand principles of the care of the geriatric patient

Meeting Location and Directions
The meeting will be held at the Aqua Turf Club, which is
located in Southington, Connecticut. To obtain a map, visit the
Club’s Web site at www.aquaturfclub.com.
•1-84 East from Waterbury: Take Exit 28, and make a right
onto Route 322. Go straight. Under the second underpass,
make a left at the car wash onto Old Turnpike Road. At
the first road sign, make a right onto Mulberry Street. The
Aqua Turf Club is located 1/2 mile on the right.
•1-84 West from Hartford: Take Exit 29 (left-hand exit).
At the end of the exit will be Mulberry Street. Go
approximately 1 mile down the road. The Aqua Turf Club
will be on your right.
•From 1-91 or the Merritt Parkway: Take Route 691 west
toward Waterbury to the Southington exit, and make
a right. At the bottom of the hill (McDonald’s on the
corner), make a right onto South End Road. Follow until
you come to Mulberry Street on the left. The Aqua Turf
Club is on Mulberry Street approximately 1/4 mile on
the left.

Associates’ Activities
Poster scientific presentations will be given by internal
medicine residents from throughout the state; awards will be
given for the most outstanding research work. Winners will
be eligible for entrance into the national competition held
at Internal Medicine 2015. Contact your Residency Program
Director for information about entering an Associates’
Competition. All abstracts must be submitted through
Residency Program Directors.

Laureate Award
It is with distinct pleasure that the Connecticut Chapter
presents Rebecca Andrews, MD, FACP and
Jason Ouellette, MD, FACP with this year’s Laureate
Award. Laureate Award winners are long-standing and loyal
supporters of the College who have rendered distinguished
service to their chapters and community and have upheld the
high ideals and professional standards for which the College is
known.
Thornton Award
The George F. Thornton Award is given to individuals
in recognition of his or her work in medical education. It
recognizes the individual’s excellence in clinical teaching, as
well as his or her motivational impact on students, residents,
and attendings. The award will be presented to Lynn
Kosowicz, MD, FACP and Rosemarie L. Fisher, MD,
FACP, FACG.
Henry C. Gift
Distinguished Internist Award
This Award is given in recognition of excellence and
compassion in patient care, professionalism, humanistic values,
and dedication to life-long learning and teaching. This award
is presented to Joseph F. Andrews, Jr., MD.
Volunteerism & Community
Service Award
This Award recognizes a physician who is involved in
volunteerism and community service activities. The Award
will be presented to M. Saud Anwar, MD.
