Liturgy of the Hours: Week I of the Psalter
Jesus is not fooled by the Pharisees
and Herodians’ shameful flattery, but
sees through it to their malice and hypocrisy. These vices lead to a false dichotomy between earthly and divine
kingdoms. Goodness and truth lead us
to recognize our place and proper conduct in both kingdoms. When earthly
kingdoms are guided by God’s values and ways, they are no less
than the spatial presence here and now of God’s kingdom. And we
pay only one tax: the self-giving that bears the image of Jesus.
Our Love and Prayers go out to:

“Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s
and to God the things that are God’s.” - Matthew 22:21
Everything we are and everything we have belongs to God.
We aren’t “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards”
of the gifts God has given each of us. All God is asking is
that we give back a portion of what He gave us. This is the
essence of Stewardship. God should be our first priority in
everything. All else comes second.

MESSAGE FROM BISHOP HOEPPNER
To assist the lay faithful in becoming more informed
about the decisions they need to make at the ballot box,
Nov. 4, 2014, the Minnesota Catholic Conference (MCC)
has published a new voting and public policy issue guide
titled: The Issues, the Candidates, and Your Vote. This
guide, has been approved by me and my fellow Catholic
bishops of Minnesota. It is our hope that it will help all of
us as Catholics to evaluate the public policy and political
candidates we support through the lens of Catholic social
teaching, and to vote with well-formed consciences.
There are 25 copies of the voter guide available in our
gathering area, or if you are interested in more copies
you may download the document for free at : http://
www.mncc.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/MinnesotaCatholic-Voting-and-Election-guide_2014FINAL.pdf or
you may ask the office to print more off as well.

“LOVE & LIFE”
"The Church, fully aware that family life is not ultimately
defined by difficulties and that people do not have problems only, willingly recognizes the efforts being made,
primarily by young people, to bring about a new springtime for the family. This can be seen in the moving testimonies in many Church encounters where a renewed
desire for marriage and family life is clearly manifested,
above all in the newer generations."

The Holy Family Prayer
JESUS, Son of God and Son of Mary, bless our family. Graciously inspire in us the unity,
peace, and mutual love that you found in your own family in the little town of Nazareth.

MARY, Mother of Jesus and our Mother, nourish our family with your faith and your love.
Keep us close to your Son, Jesus, in all our sorrows and joys.
JOSEPH, Foster-father to Jesus, guardian and spouse of Mary, keep our family safe from
harm. Help us in all times of discouragement or anxiety.
HOLY FAMILY OF NAZARETH, make our family one with you. Help us to be instruments of
peace. Grant that love, strengthened by grace, may prove mightier than all the weaknesses
and trials through which our families sometimes pass. May we always have God at the
center of our hearts and homes until we are all one family, happy and at peace in our true
home with you. Amen.
