This dial has to be pre-1729 as this superb clockmaker moved to Totnes in that year * A good Swiss 8-air, 9" cylinder musical box in an inlaid walnut case. Cast-iron base with lever wind. In 1996 it had a full restoration by Paul Tuck in Clerkenwell costing over £700, This included a full cylinder repin, three tips in the comb and re-dampering, the Governor was rebuilt by Roy Connor with a new endless and wheel and the case was polished. Sadly the original tune card is missing * Ship’s clock - German U-boat clock made by Kleineger and Obergfell. This clock is reputed to have been salvaged from a 1st WW U-boat by the vendor's grandfather although there is no document to prove this. It is quite an early model, having a very well-finished going barrel platform escapement movement and an engraved silvered brass dial. The clock was overhauled in the mid 1990s and the original escapement was substituted with an ex Venner platform on an adapter plate, so no extra holes were made in the plates. The original, superb, damascened and nickelled escapement is secured in the back of the case, at a quick inspection it does not seem to have anything wrong with it other than requiring pivot polishing and cheering up a bit * Automaton Smith's QL Football Pools Alarm Clock – rare collector’s item which depicts a vintage couple filling in or checking their pools coupon - the seconds tick and the man marks his coupon while the numbers change (working well).
