Homecoming
The most wonderful time of the year is here! October brings the color to all of the trees, homecomings and church dinners, college football, revivals, and annual meetings. I like all of these things. Yes,
October is my favorite month. I cannot speak about all of these in my short time so I will choose
one—Homecoming. I get excited about all the churches that have this annual event and rejoice with
them. I rejoice with all the events as they emphasize friends, eating, heaven, singing, and the reason
for all of our fellowship—Jesus. Yeah, I know that I sound like a Bill Gaither commercial, but we
should welcome the energy and joy these events bring to our churches. We should celebrate the genuine Christian love surrounding our homecomings because they point to a greater homecoming that I
know you don’t want to miss!
The Bible in Revelations 21:1-4 tells us of a new heaven. It speaks of Jesus, the Alpha and Omega.
It pictures a great wedding scene where friends of the bride and groom are welcomed. It sounds like a
homecoming to me. Rejoice with me as you read these words and you realize one day you will be welcomed home as a fellow citizen of heaven. You have been on your journey now with your passport
stamped with grace; your arrival is celebrated. No one is thirsty because we have drunk from the
spring of Living Water. No one who has been redeemed by the Blood of Jesus will be left out! There
will be no mourning because all tears will be wiped away. We will dwell with our Savior forever!
Madisonville First BC:
Their Young at Heart senior group meets every second Tuesday at 11:15a; lunch is $6.00 catered from Country Cupboard Restaurant. For first time attendee’s the lunch is free. This group provides programs and trips and is open to all
seniors.
Silent Run BC:
The church is hosting an Associational Men's Clay Shoot at the church on October 4th. The church will mail all the pastors further information. Also, the church has a few months worth of LifeWay bulletins to give away. If your
church is interested call the church at 270-249-8111.
Grapevine BC:
Allen Bryant is available for guest worship leaders and/or soloist for a love offering in which will be donated to his family’s
adoption fund. Allen and his wife, Heather, are adopting a young daughter from Haiti. If interested please contact Allen

Concord BC
The church celebrated the baptism of 2 young men in September. They also held three evangelistic events. A Hot Dog
Give Away, a Skeet Shoot, and a Camo/Country Day complete with a Billy Graham My Hope video.
In October they are hosting a Trunk or Treat on the 31st from 5-7p in the gym.
They are also looking forward to hosting their second Financial Peace University this coming January and would like to
bless the first two pastors interested with their 9 week class for FREE! Contact Bro. Toby at 270-621-0354”

178th Annual Meeting
Each session will begin with a pre-session concert. Monday’s music will be led by Joe Christian,
music minister from Grapevine Baptist Church.
The Grapevine BC. Worship Choir and the Childress Family will bring the special music for this
session.
Preaching the annual sermon will be Toby DeHay,
Pastor, Concord Baptist Church.

Our annual fellowship meal will be held in Earlington First Baptist Church’s family life center behind
their sanctuary. Because of their construction to
their sanctuary that is going on at this time we will
also hold our business session in this same building.
The meal will be catered by the Sticky Pig Restaurant this year. The cost of the meal ticket will be
$10.50 each. The menu will include pulled pork
and smoked chicken quarters along with pasta
salad, baked beans, potato salad, banana pudding
and peach cobbler.

How to Host an
Executive Board
Meeting
If your church wants to
help out this year and host
an executive board meeting here are a few things
that might help in your
planning.
You would need to provide
a meal for approximately
65-75 people and be able
to seat that many in your
fellowship room.
You would need to be able
to seat at least 75 in your
sanctuary.
Your church would be
responsible for providing
a 15 minute time of devotion (special music, hymn
singing, short message or
scripture reading, etc.) from
6:45p-7:00p.

Calendar dates for the 2015 planning calendar are being taken.
If your church has a special day you want included this year
please call and let us know as soon as possible. This might be
your special church anniversary or homecoming, etc.
We are also looking for host churches for the executive
board meetings for 2015. If your church will be willing to
host a meeting please call soon to get the month you prefer.

LITTLE BETHEL WAYNE NELSON
MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
REPORT
The golf tournament was held Sept 20th at the Providence Community Golf Course. There were 29 golfers that participated.
The winning golf team was from First Baptist Church Madisonville. The team members were Jonathan Nix, Russell Ball,
Hughlan Richey, and Dr. Garth Smith. They shot a score of 56
The second place team was from Earlington First
Baptist Church. The team members were Brett Sizemore, Travis
Sneed, Joe Gill, and Eugene Burden. They shot a score of 60.
Our Director of Missions, Bill Egbert, also participated and
helped his team make a birdie on one hole.
I would like to thank everyone for participating and ask all of you
to remember the Hughlan P. Richey Little Bethel Golf Fellowship
next May.

HANSON BAPTIST CHURCH
HOSTING A 5K EVENT ON NOVEMBER 15TH
Hey there!
My name is Leslie Allen. I am a member at Hanson Baptist and we are hosting a 5K
event on November 15th as a celebration for the Run for God group and to help a
member of our youth group, Austin Thompson.
Would you please help me get the word out to your members about this event?
Please read Austin’s story below.
James 1:2-3 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you
know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.” I want to tell you a story about a boy I know, named Austin.
But before I begin, you must know that Austin has the biggest heart for God I have ever seen. When Austin was 13
years old, he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. He went through months of radiation and chemo therapy
until the doctors finally said he was cancer free. He had beaten cancer, which as we all know, is a very rare thing. Little did he know it was only the beginning. What he went through at age 13 was easy compared to the roller coaster he
was about to ride. At age 15, he found out his cancer had returned, but this time in his spine. Austin had to go to
Kosair hospital, located in Louisville, as quickly as possible to start treatment, knowing he and his mom would be there
for months. They started by taking stem cells from his body, up to 5 times the amount they needed, so they could proceed to kill his immune system and then use his stem cells to rebuild it afterwards. They put him on strong chemo and
successfully killed his immune system. They then gave him his own stem cells to rebuild his marrow, just as they
planned, and as they have done so many times before in so many patients; but Austin’s body did not accept his own
stem cells.
A specialist in this area of work came to Louisville from Chicago just to work on Austin’s case and said he had
never seen this before. Normally, in the rare cases that this has happened, they can figure out why the cells won’t
take, but in this case, there was no reason that Austin’s own stem cells should not have worked. They accepted the
fact and moved on to try and find a donor. After his own family members did not match and many other donors, they
finally found a match from a donor in Europe. After receiving the bone marrow, Austin slowly started to improve. Austin is now home after almost a year of being in the hospital. Every day is different, with his numbers going up and
down and up again, but mostly, things are looking up. The amazing thing about Austin and his story is that through all
of it, over 6 months of being in a hospital bed, having treatment after treatment, getting sick, not being able to control
his body, missing Christmas and his birthday, which are the same day by the way, with his family and church family,
and possibly facing death at any moment, Austin had been given a joyful heart from the Lord. He completely relied on
God then, and relies on Him now, and has not questioned Him at any point. He continually studies the Word because
He loves His Lord so much and knows that He is with him in this situation. Austin has been handing out Bibles, telling
the doctors, nurses, and other patients about the love of God, guiding people to salvation and relationships with God,
and has inspired me and countless others, and he is only 16. His joy through such a hard time in his life is amazing.
This boy is way ahead of his years and his story is exactly what we, and many others, need to hear. He is the definition of joy.
