Purpose
:





To provide scheduled high quality clinical supervision to
designated staff as well as ad hoc supervision to the Dual
Diagnosis team.
To provide high quality evidence based clinical services to
referred clients. Key responsibilities include Clinical
Supervision, Clinical Practice and Service Delivery and
Improvement.
To develop effective and assertive treatment strategies for
those people who have a serious mental illness, which is
complicated by co-existing substance misuse.
To improve integration between mental health and drug and
alcohol services and achieve positive client outcomes
To assist with training and support of mental health and AOD
professionals/support workers in dual diagnosis issues.
To contribute to the leadership of the Dual Diagnosis Service
and team in support of the role of the Clinical Team Leader and
Service Lead Psychiatrist

The Community Alcohol and Drug Service Performance
Management System is utilised to provide direct clinical supervision
for staff.
Monitoring and supervision of related Administrative,
Policy/Procedure and Protocol requirements.
Participative clinical practice and supervisory leadership that
ensures outcomes that are effective with people and efficient with
systems.
Maintenance of a caseload of clients (as agreed with Dual Diagnosis
Manager and Clinical Team Leader).
Co-ordination of referrals from Mental Health Services as required.
The Manager and the Clinical Team Leader are advised and
informed in regard to issues/decisions related to day to day
operation of the unit.
Direct clinical supervision is provided to students/interns on clinical
placement and/or staff involved in the implementation of research
and/or quality initiatives when required, as directed by the
Manager.
Ad hoc supervision is provided to members of the clinical team as
required.
Best clinical practice is modelled and an acting up role is taken on in
the absence of the Clinical Team Leader as required.
Contribution to the co-ordination of all unit requirements in regard
to systems and standards, in conjunction with the Clinical Team
Leader and the Manager.
Functional relationships are developed and maintained with CADS
Supervisors, and Quality Team.
Participation in unit and Community Alcohol and Drug Service wide
activities that promote the development of Best Practice Standards
within Community Alcohol and Drug Services
Participation in and contribution to organisational reviews and
audits of Policy/Procedure, Practice Guides and Practice Standards
Promotion of participation in all research and quality initiatives
within the unit.
Clients are prioritised and actioned appropriately and in a timely
manner.
Assessment and treatment of co-existing alcohol and drug issues
and mental health disorders.
Demonstration of planning, risk assessment and management and
positive client outcomes.
Implementation of Harm Reduction model of treatment.
Provision of ongoing assertive case support of clients in
consultation and conjunction with other services.
Provision of consultation via assessment and treatment
recommendations for referred clients.
