When booking guest speakers, the speaker is sent a letter outlining information about our club with the request that they not solicit business from our members. Our members are encouraged to come to our general meetings to support their club and activities plus gain information and knowledge from our guest speakers. Do you enjoy talking about books with others? The current PNN Book Club is excited to share our ideas with the goal of starting a second group. We currently meet monthly excluding July and August. Each member selects a book in June and shares this with the others. We then select which month we wish to host the group in our home and that is the month in which we all read the host’s book selection. The discussion, which occurs, is varied and fun - always starting out with the book and usually ending with solving the world problems. A glass of wine and a light snack complete a fun couple of hours in an afternoon. This month we are reading The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion – on the surface a nice gentle read but one that will introduce lots of interesting topics and anecdotes for discussion, I am sure. The benefit to starting a second Book Club is that it can be designed any way the members choose. Canadian authors only, mystery club, science fiction, classics – mix all of these together or stick to just one genre. There is no right or wrong way. Come on in and enjoy the many laughs, cries and insights that sharing a good read can bring. A signup sheet for a second book club will be on the table at our next meeting. Come! Join in the fun.
