Today, the institution has 3 missions:
• Life-long education: 100,000 students (some who audit classes) in Paris
and in 28 regional centers; 10,000 students abroad; 140 cooperative
agreements in 40 countries
• Technological research: 32 research departments; 1 doctoral school and
8 associated doctoral schools.
• Communication of its scientific and technical knowledge: thanks to its
library and its technology museum.
Research
Research at CNAM covers a vast array of fields. It is close to professional,
industrial, economic and social realities and has a special place in research
both in France and in Europe.

Le Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (Cnam) is a public institution
characterized by a scientific, cultural and professional focus. The school
was founded in 1794 under the Convention, at the urging of Abbot Henri
Gregoire. Cnam has earned the status of a grand établissement, and
is under the authority of the National Ministry of higher education and
research. The Cnam is now divided in two Schools:
- an Engineering school (SITI) with programs in engineering, IT, electronics,
chemistry, etc.
- a Management school (MS) with programs in management, accounting,
finance, laws, culture, etc

• Tradition of innovation in research and teaching: a wide distance learning
platform, which allows students to follow many courses (CNAM has more
than 300 modules available online as well as MOOCs).
Location
The head quarter of the institution, Arts et Métiers Museum and Central
library are all located in the center of Paris at 292 rue Saint- Martin and 2
rue Conté in Paris (3rd arrondissement). CNAM is composed of a network
of 28 centers in France, one associated center in Lebanon, one in China;
and numerous locations in 40 countries (Europe, Asia, sub-Saharan Africa,
North Africa, Middle East, South America) .
