ABOUT GEORGE DAROUZE
George as an Individual
George began his new life in Canada when he immigrated here from Lebanon ‎in 1990. As with anyone
starting a career in a new country, the path can be rocky and unpredictable. However, George’s‎
determination proved he was up to the task, undertaking a variety of jobs to provide for his family. Being
fluently bilingual was an asset and George had job opportunities. His work took him from busboy, baker
and dishwasher to fast food franchise worker and within two years he purchased a pizzeria. Several years
into the fast food industry, George‎wasn’t‎left‎with‎many‎hours‎with‎his sons. He felt he needed a change
for his family. George shifted his focus and was hired as a sales representative for an independent Bell
Mobility dealer. This set him off in the telecommunications field and he quickly advanced corporately.
George and his wife of 18 years, Sue, along with their two teenage sons, John and Tony, have lived in
the Ottawa area since 1990. George and Sue felt comfortable with the Ottawa lifestyle and decided it was
the best place to raise their family. George is a strong family man who is proud to call Ottawa his home
with his parents (John and Teresa), two brothers (Tony and Elie) and sister (Mariane).
Over the past decade, George has held a number of managerial positions with national and international
telecommunication companies including manager for Worldlynx Bell Mobility for the Eastern Region and
Director of Business Development for Ottawa/Toronto region for Smart Cell Communications, an
independent Telus dealer. Currently, he is the Director of Business Development for Four-O-One Security
Systems.
This history has instilled George with a strong business sense and work ethic. He knows the meaning of a
day's work and getting something done. He truly recognizes and appreciates the value of a strong
supportive community which brings him to his current objective – representing Osgoode Ward as
Councillor.
