Local Solar Project – Expression of Interest submitted
By: Jennifer Constant – Business Development Coordinator
Mattagami’s Business Development department
has been actively seeking to access local solar
power solutions for community residents and
public buildings. An Expression of Interest (EOI)
has been submitted to the Small Communities
Fund (SCF) through the Ministry of Economic
Development, Employment & Infrastructure, in
collaboration with Iskonigan and Jazz Solar
Solutions.
The Ministry of Economic Development, Employment & Infrastructure in mid-August announced
an intake to identify priority municipal projects
for the federal government’s Small Communities
Fund (SCF). The funding, which is supported by
both the Ontario Provincial and Federal
governments will provide small communities,
under 100,000 in population, with access up to
$4 million per project and total funding across
the Province of Ontario of $272 million from
each of the federal and provincial governments.
Current phase: The Expression of Interest deadline is September 19th.
Next phases: A Pre-Screening Stage occurs submissions passing this phase will be invited to
submit a Full Application Stage (October 2014)
with applications and consultation/preliminary
assessments taking place in December 2014.
The Ontario government will then assess and
prioritize projects for review with the Federal
government to ensure eligibility requirements
(Jan/Feb 2015.) Funding announcements are
estimated to take place in February 2015.
