Doc. dr. Andrej Kržan, National Institute of Chemistry, Laboratory for Polymer Chemistry
and Technology, Ljubljana, Slovenia
Dr. Kržan is a senior scientific associate at the National Institute of Chemistry, Ljubljana
working in the area of environmental aspects of polymers and plastics covering topics such
as recycling of plastics and polymers, biodegradable plastics, biobased plastics and plastic
litter in the environment. For a number of years he was active as an expert consultant for
the Biodegradable Plastics Programme at ICS-UNIDO, Italy. He participated in a number of
international cooperation projects, has recently coordinated a Central Europe-focused
project on bioplastics and is currently coordinator of the DeFishGear project on marine litter
in the Adriatic Sea. He is lecturer on wsate management at the University of Nova Gorica
and on Biobased polymers at the College for Polymer Technology in Slovenj Gradec. He is
the secretary general & national representative of the European Polymer Federation, and
president of the Section for Polymers at the Slovenian Chemical Society.
