Connection Medical Centre?
The Northern Connection Medical
Centre (NCMC) is a teaching clinic,
where the goal of providing the highest
quality care goes hand in hand with
training new family doctors.
The clinic provides services to people

time finding a family doctor.

the unexpected health care needs of
you and your family during times when

save waiting long hours in the
emergency room, or waiting for regular
hours at a clinic.
Did you know you can go on line to
find a doctor?
The family Doctor Finder is designed to
connect you and your family with a
health care provider, family doctor,
nurse practitioner or paediatrician.
If you live in Manitoba and need a
regular health care provider, you can

program. Or you can visit

aches, lasting up to a couple of weeks,
leading to missed work or school. Get

of the city. There are clinics in St. James
and Charleswood during the week of

Did you know that there is an Urgent
Care Centre?
Miseracordia Health Centre’s Urgent
Care centre opened in 1998, as a made
-in Manitoba solution: the first of its
kind in Canada. Urgent care specializes
in handling non-life-threatening
emergencies, providing assessment
and treatment for urgent health
concerns. This Urgent Care Centre
plays a huge role in supporting the
emergency rooms in the city.
Minor accidents, pain and illness can
happen anytime. Urgent Care is open
24 hours a day 7 days a week, 365 days
a year.
Did you know there is a clinic that
specializes in joint/bone and soft
tissue issues, and has a focus on
athletes and sports related injuries?
This clinic is the Pan Am Clinic located
at 75 Poseidon Bay. The clinic has
expanded several times since it opened
in 1979. It is now almost 72, 000 sq. ft.
and houses MRI’s, Pain Clinics, Minor
Injury Clinics for Kids, a cast clinic, xrays, and a minor injury walk in clinic.
Their team of health professionals
provide assessment and treatment for
patients with acute injuries such as
sprains, cuts, bruises and fractures that
do not require hospitalization.
www.panamclinic.org
Did you know you can access
Emergency Room wait times online?
If you go online to the Winnipeg
Regional Health Authority website, you
can check the current wait times at all
emergency rooms. These are estimated
wait times, but will give you an idea of
how long you might wait.
The MFRC has all of this information as
well as information on doctors and
walk-in clinics in the immediate area as
well as all over the city. If you have any
questions, please ask us, and we can
help you find the medical care answers
to all your questions.

National Family Week
Thousands of Canadians have celebrated National Family Week every fall
since 1985, when it was proclaimed an official week by the Government of
Canada.
National Family week celebrates the role of families in creating a nurturing
and supportive community in which to live. It evokes a sense of
interdependency - communities are built by families and families are
supported by communities. By being involved and engaged, families not only
create an environment that is responsive but one that provides opportunity. National Family Week is an ideal
opportunity to acknowledge the ways we can all contribute to building a community that supports everyone.
This year National Family Week is October 5—12. The MFRC has planned programs for each day of the week. For
more information on these programs or to register please call the MFRC.
