GRAD
Grad website: Grade 12 students should be checking the website each week to ensure they are up-to-date
with graduation requirements/events: www.mbs.sd23.bc.ca
‘Parents/Students’ ‘Graduation’. You will also find all the important Grad year dates/events on the site. New
items are added regularly.
If a student has a spare: please ensure they know to sign both in and out of the building, in the front office, on
the ‘Grade 12 student spare sign in/out’ sheet. We must know when they are in or out of the building for safety
purposes. If there are any questions, please have your grade 12 student drop by the front office.
Post-Secondary Institution visits:
Nov. 5: UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA
COLUMBIA BIBLE COLLEGE
2:15pm / Bl. 2
Nov. 7: MOUNT ROYAL UNIVERSITY 10:25am / Bl. 4
Post-Secondary Institution transcript submitting: Students planning on attending a Post-Secondary Institute
upon graduation in 2015, including outside BC, are now able to register online to have their final transcript sent
directly to universities/colleges. This is a requirement for most every Canadian university/college. We cannot
stress the importance that students go online and complete the procedure as soon as possible. This in no way
commits a student to attending a particular university/college. For more information/instructions refer to our
school website.
‘What’s Next’ booklet: Students, if you did not pick up this extremely helpful booklet, please ensure you visit
the Counselling Centre to do so immediately.
Scholarship opportunities: Please check the school website for opportunities, we are continually updating the
site. We also encourage students to google/research opportunities on their own.
Grad Photos: November 14 – 19th. Sign up begins October 29 – Nov 5th, in the Multi-purpose Room at lunch.
Students must book outside a scheduled class.
Grad Council meeting: Friday, October 31st, 8:00am, Rm. 136
Grad Ceremony: Please note that each student will receive 3 tickets to the convocation ceremony in June
2015. The student does not require a ticket. Students may place their name on a waitlist for extra tickets with
Mrs. McLachlan in the front office. Please note, there are NO guarantees that extra tickets will be available.
Grad Fees: Students that choose to participate in either the Graduation Ceremony or the Graduation Ceremony
and banquet are required to pay ‘grad fees’. An outline of the fees can be found on the grad website. If you
have a financial concern please see your Vice Principal to discuss a payment plan/options as soon as possible.
All Grad fees for students that wish to participate, must be paid in full by February 2nd, 2015. Students that are
NOT participating in one/both events must complete an ‘Opt Out’ form.
Dry Grad: Dry grad is a parent driven event, it is not a school organized event. New parents/guardian
volunteers are welcomed.
Next meeting: November 4th, Tuesday, 7:00pm in the MBS Library.
