ONO’U Competition Regulation
I – General rules of competition
Article 1.1. General Framework
International graffiti competition named « ONO’U Battle » is created and organized by the society Tahiti
New Generation in the framework of the first edition of the international festival of graffiti art ONO’U
2014. The competition will be held on 10 and 11 May 2014 on the island of Tahiti in French Polynesia.
Article 1.2. Schedule of the competition
The competition will be held over two days on 10 and 11 May 2014 on the low esplanade de la Place
Toata in Papeete, to the general public and the jury. It will take place in two stages, as follows:
1.1. Qualification round: Saturday 10th May 2014
Competitors: 24
Duration: 5 hours maximum from 12pm to 5pm
Support panel: plywood 3,66 x 2, 44 meters
Features: Free theme. Color gradients are compulsory (all compulsory colors should be used in the work
created).
Material: same colors, same number of bombs will be provided to all competitors by the organizer.
Candidates cannot bring their own kit but they must bring their protective equipment (gloves, masks,
etc.) to be used during the competition.
10 finalists will be selected by the jury on the 1st day of the competition to compete the final the
following day.
2.2.Final : Sunday 11th May 2014
Competitors: 10 candidates selected by the jury on the 1st day.
Duration: 5 hours maximum from 12h to 17h
Support panel: plywood 3,66 x 2, 44 meters
Features: Free choice of colors from the palette in shades of 10 colors provided by the organizer. One
theme chosen through lucky drawn and announced just before the start of the battle. Each finalist will
pick a Polynesian word (translated into French and English) and will perform his work drawing based on
the meaning and/or lettering of his word.
Four prizes will be awarded at the end of the final, by the jury, festival organizers and sponsors of the
competition during the awards ceremony evening, Sunday May 11, 2014.
Article 1.3. Prizes of the competition
After two days of competition, only the winners will be rewarded. No financial reward will be paid to
other participants.

Winners will be awarded as follows:
- 1st prize : a cheque of 10,000 USD
- 2nd prize : a cheque of 5,000 USD
- 3rd prize : a cheque of 2,500 USD
- A special prize «student Fenua», offered by Polynesian airline Air Tahiti Nui will be awarded to the
winner. The price will be a return trip to Paris during which will have the opportunity to visit French
graffiti workshops, to improve the techniques of graffiti and meet professionals in schools and
companies of arts and graphics.
Tahiti New Generation, the competition organizer, reserves the right to give a special audience and jury
award or any other prize, if they needed.
II – Registration of the competitors
Article 2.1. The competitors
The contest is open to all individual aged between 18 to 38 years old and practicing graffiti as art. The
age criterion is a condition of non-eligibility for the competition ONO’U Battle 2014.
Article 2.2. Competitors file
All documents related to application will be available for download on the festival website
www.tahitifestivalgraffiti.com from November 30, 2013.
In order to confirm his registration, each competitor must file in the online entry form and attached all
the required documents (.zip).
Only complete file will be examined, competitors must attach the following documents to complete their
file:
- The competition entry form duly filed
- 4 photographs minimum resolution of 1000x1000 pixels corresponding to four distinct works and recent
graffiti murals *
- A copy of passport confirming his age
- Letter of commitment (see «download the Commitment Letter») to physically go to Papeete from 7 to
12 May 2014
- The present regulation initialed and signed, with the words «read and approved» at the bottom of each
page.
* By recent graffiti murals, Tahiti New Generation, the competition organizer, expects an essentially
recently made work with spray paint on a mural (less than five years).
* Each photograph must correspond to a mural exclusively created and executed by the candidate
himself and shall specify the place and the year of its completion.

All the incomplete files will be automatically rejected without prior notice.

Article 2.3. Schedule
The registration of the international graffiti competition will be open from 30 November 2013 to 31
January 2014, mid night Papeete standard time. Only the complete files received by the deadline will be
examined.
Article 2.4. Special case
Tahiti New Generation reserves the right to refuse registration of competitor, who they think in not
eligible to criteria defined in sections above, without having to justify its decision.
III – Selection of the competitors
Article 3.1. Procedure
All files meeting the conditions of participation set forth in paragraph II of this Regulation shall be
submitted to the selection committee.
The committee will consist of members of the jury of the final competition, members of cultural
associations, artists and professionals in the discipline. The committee is sovereign in its decisions and is
free to its appreciation and felt compared to works.
The selection committee will determine the participants who will be selected to participate in the
playoffs and final phases of the international graffiti competition in Papeete on 10 and 11 May 2014. The
maximum number of selected participants will rise to 24 competitors.
Among all participants retained, 5 places will be allocated to 5 Polynesian in order to have the
representation of French Polynesia at the international graffiti competition in Tahiti.
Article 3.2. Selection announcement
All the selected competitors will be informed by telephone or by e-mail during the month of February
2014.
The names of the selected competitors will further be posted on the website of the festival
www.tahitifestivalgraffiti.com.
The information published by Tahiti New Generation are based on the elements and works provided
by the competitors under their sole responsibility and liability. Tahiti New Generation will not be held
responsible in this regard. A right of access and rectification may be exercised freely.

Article 3.3. Special case
If at the end of the deliberation organization could not get quality records, for any reason whatsoever, it
reserves the right to extend the registration period and selection of participants to adjust the number of
selected competitors or cancel the competition.
Article 3.4. Responsibility of Organizers
Tahiti New Generation is not responsible if the graffiti international art festival « ONO’U 2014 » is
postponed or canceled because of force majeure or causes beyond its control.
Additions or amendments to this regulation can be made until 7 days before the deadline for submission
of applications. These additions and amendments will be available on the official website of https://
www.tahitifestivalgraffiti.com contest. Pre-registered participants will receive an email informing them
of the changes.
IV – Commitments of the competitors
Selected competitors are committed to:
Article 4.1. Presence in Tahiti
Each participant agrees to be present physically in Papeete, Tahiti, from May 7 to 12, 2014, to
participate in playoff and final stages of the competition.
Article 4.2. Behavior
Each participant undertakes to produce quality work, respecting the contest rules and a code of conduct.
In this regard, each applicant agrees to have a decent and reasonable behavior during the Competition in
Papeete.
The participant agrees to comply with the conditions defined by the competition organizers, including
the themes and colors selection.
Article 4.3. Copy rights and ownership
The participant must guaranty that they have the copy rights or are have ownership of their works,
videos, photographs and any item that has been addressed during registration and guarantees Tahiti New
Generation against any claims of third parties in this respect.
After registration, all the selected competitors, winner or loser, must allow Tahiti New Generation to
publish their work, photos or presentation etc. on the festival website www. tahitifestivalgraffiti.com on
the websites of the partners of the festival, all media and all communication media (catalog, brochure
festival, database online, TV, internet, cinema, mobile, etc..) for the sole purpose of promoting ONO’U
festival, the competition, the participants and their works.
Being part of the competition each selected competitor must allow Tahiti New Generation to use their
work without any charges to be used for publicity purpose or media release, for the promotion of the
ONO’U, festival and competitors.

In addition, the selected competitors participating in the competition agree to participate at the request
of the organizers to all media events interviews on site during their trip to the international competition
of graffiti in Tahiti, from 7 to May 12, 2014.
Specifically, each competitor accepts that the works carried out during the days of the festival and the
international competition of graffiti on 10 and 11 May 2014, remains the sole and exclusive property of
Tahiti New Generation.
Therefore, each competitor participating in the international competition of graffiti gives his art works
produced during the competition and gives rights to festival organizer Tahiti New Generation to use their
work.
Each competitor agrees that the organizer can display, reuse or republish any work (or photograph of
his works) as part of its communication (website, magazine, newspaper, TV, radio, cards .....) and for
promotional purposes.
Tahiti New Generation takes its full responsibility for the organization (administrative, logistical,
financial, etc.) of exhibition, promotional campaign, and more generally any local and international
event that will promote the contest and artists who participated in the competition and will have freely
competition works in the context of its events
Anyone who does not accept the conditions stated above are requested by the organizing committee to
not submit his application.
Article 4.4. Insurance
All competitors must be insured and covered for liability for body injury, property damage and
consequential arising in connection with the Contest and during their travel and their entire stay in
Tahiti. The organizers cannot be held responsible for any damages
V – Travel to Tahiti
Article 5.1. Air ticket
Special discount prices (at least 25% of the full fare) will be offered to selected competitors for the
purchase of their flight ticket from cities served by Air Tahiti Nui, official partner of the festival.
They will have to indicate their city of departure to the competition organizers in order to facilitate
bookings with the airline.
Article 5.2. Accommodation and restauration
Selected international competitors will be offered complimentary accommodation and full board catering
to Papeete for six days, from May 7 to 12, 2014.
All applicants will be accommodated only at one selected place and organizer will tell them about it.

Article 5.3. Travel in Papeete
Only trips provided on site by the organizer will be borne by the latter, namely travel to get from
accommodation to places of appointments made by the organizer.
VI – Jurisdiction and competent law
Rule in cases not mentioned in this regulation. Participation in the international graffiti art international
competition ONO’U 2014 implies unreserved acceptance of the terms of this Regulation. Any dispute
regarding participation in the festival and competition that may arise between a participant and Tahiti
New Generation, will be the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Papeete, French Polynesia, the law in
force in French Polynesia is the sole authority.
VII – Acceptance of the rules and regulation
Submission of the registration form constitutes acceptance of current regulation.
Any breach of regulation shall entitle the organizer to cancel the participation of an applicant from
international graffiti competition «ONO’U Battle 2014» or disqualification without any formality.
Each competitor shall provide accurate information while registering in the competition and all the
above commitments made in its name.
