EXPERTS IN
CANCER TREATMENT
Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) has
teamed up with the region’s quality health care
leader Saint Luke’s Cancer Institute (SLCI), to bring
area residents a higher level of care. Thanks to our
partnership with SLCI, you can receive advanced
cancer care closer to home. Patients’ care is coordinated by SLCI’s team of board-certified medical
oncologists who are responsible for each patient’s
care from the moment of diagnosis and throughout
the course of treatment.
Medical oncologists work with
each patient to:
• Explain the cancer diagnosis and stage
• Discuss all available treatment options and
recommend the best course of treatment
• Help manage cancer- or treatment-related
pain and side effects to ensure patients
experience the best quality of life possible
during treatment
The medical oncologists, who have expertise in
treating a wide range of cancers, work with SLCI’s integrated, multidisciplinary care team which
includes radiation oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, dieticians, and counselors. This team meets weekly to
review cases and tailor treatments to ensure the best
possible outcome for our patients. Should patients
need advanced treatment or a level of care not
available in Warrensburg, patients will have access
to Saint Luke’s Cancer Institute’s services at Saint
Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit and Saint Luke’s
Hospital in Kansas City.
