Keynote Presentation
*With Larry Berman in all Cities
Keynote Presentation:
The Liquidity Trap!
What You Need to Know to Thrive in a Post-QE World.
Approx 60 minutes.
Presented by Larry Berman, CFA, CMT, CTA
The fiscal stimulus introduced to combat the 2008/2009 financial crisis has propelled markets to all-time highs –
rewarding equity investors and pushing everyone in need of income to take on more equity risk. Now, as 2015
approaches this stimulus is starting to be withdrawn, and the pace appears set to accelerate in the New Year. Will 2015
bring the first of the interest rate increases too?
Although no one really knows what will happen, one distinct possibility is a “liquidity trap” – a scenario that has kept rates
and economic growth near rock-bottom levels in Japan for 25 years. In this presentation, Larry will discuss what central
banks are doing to try and avoid repeating Japan’s fate, and what role governments will need to play in rehabilitating
markets so they can slowly take away the punch bowl.
Larry will also share his views on how to position your portfolio to take part in whatever upside may be left in markets,
and how to take advantage of a correction so you can sleep at night without fearing a market pull-back. He will look at
bond market opportunity vs risks and when cash makes more sense than bonds. Finally, he will outline how to put “guru”
forecasts (including his own) in context and evaluate the ideas you get from the financial media. Larry aims to help you
understand what you’re buying, when to get out, and if it’s right for you.
Larry Berman is a Co-Founder of ETF Capital Management, (www.etfcm.com) and the Independent Investor Institute “i3”,
(www.educatedtrader.com). Over his 25 year career, Larry has worked for numerous top firms in New York, Boston, and Toronto. Prior to
founding ETFCM (2006) and i3 (2011), he was Chief Technical Strategist and Managing Director for CIBC World Markets for nearly a decade
where he was ranked as one of Canada’s “Top 3 Analysts” according to Brendan Wood institutional investor surveys.
Larry is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT), a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder, and is a US registered Commodity Trading
Advisor (CTA). Larry graduated from York University with a BA in Economics and lectures on behavioural finance and technical analysis at
colleges and universities. Larry is the primary author of the textbook for the technical analysis course offered by the Canadian Securities
Institute (CSI). He is past President of the Canadian Society of Technical Analysts (www.csta.org), past Vice-Chairman (Americas) of the
International Federation of Technical Analysts (www.ifta.org), and past President of the Market Technicians Association - where he currently
sits on the board of the educational foundation (www.mtaef.org). Larry’s opinions frequently appear in the media, and he is featured weekly
on BNN’s Berman’s Call.

Investing in Action:
Trading iDEAS for Active Investors
How to effectively apply the ideas you get
from the financial media
Approx 60 minutes.
Presented by Ziad Jasani, Larry Berman & Scotia iTRADE
If you are an Active Investor join Ziad Jasani and Larry Berman (co-founders of the Independent Investor Institute) for this
power-packed session. You will be introduced to Swing Trading as a methodology to protect and grow your assets. You will
come away with concrete analysis tools that you can start using right away.
As investors we search for sound investment ideas, but when to buy and when to sell are the hardest decisions for us to
make. Ziad will demonstrate how to choose the optimal entry and exit prices, and how to set stop losses to manage risk.
At the Independent Investor Institute our goal is to help you make consistently better decisions in markets. We focus on a
Swing Trading methodology, which involves identifying when a stock is technically cheap, showing signs of moving up and
outperforming it’s competitive set (the sector). We then show you how to identify when that same stock is getting
expensive, showing signs of a breakdown and starting to underperform, so that you can start to trim your position.
All attendees of this session will receive access to a FREE Online 3 hour Swing Trading Workshop where you will get the
chance to have your stocks analyzed from top to bottom. This is a must attend workshop that promises to improve your
decision making in markets at every stage of a trade.
Ziad Jasani is a partner and co-founder of the Independent Investor Institute. With nearly 20 years of small business and
senior corporate management experience, Ziad was a top executive in the consumer packaged goods industry, serving as a
senior director at Canada Bread, Maple Leaf, and General Mills. In 2008, Ziad made a bold move, leaving his corporate desk
and selling his businesses to travel the world and focus on trading for a living. After investing significant sums of money to
educate himself about how to trade, Ziad attended one of ETF Capital Management’s events and met with Larry to become
a Client. He found Larry’s knowledge so compelling compared to the courses he had taken, he partnered with Larry’s team
to bring Larry’s expert knowledge and process to those who are doing their own investing. Since then the Independent
Investor Institute has garnered outstanding reviews and testimonials from the investors who have been empowered by its
courses. To Learn about trading and investing education visit: www.EducatedTrader.com

The State of Canadian Real Estate
A look at the risks and opportunities facing investors today
Approx 30 minutes.
Presented by Benjamin Tal, Deputy Chief Economist CIBC World Markets
Perhaps more so than in any other country on earth, real estate is a Canadian obsession. By dollar value, it’s certainly the
largest asset class making up our net-worth. More than 70% of Canadians own homes which they live in, but many also own
investment properties, and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) in their portfolios. In this presentation, Benjamin Tal will
examine real estate in Canada from an investment standpoint. He will provide his views on the Canadian economic outlook
for 2015 and beyond, and specifically what impact this may have on residential and commercial real estate markets. He will
analyse the possible effects of changes to interest rates, employment trends, and immigration, and how it all influences the
risks and opportunities in real estate over the next 5-10 years.
Benjamin Tal is responsible for analyzing economic developments and their implications for North American fixed
income, equity, foreign exchange and commodities markets. He also acts in an advisory capacity to bank officers on issues
related to wealth management, household/corporate credit and risk.
Well-known for his ground-breaking published research on topics such as labour market dynamics, real estate, credit
markets, international trade and business economic conditions, Mr. Tal not only contributes to the conversation, but
frequently sets the agenda.
He has close to 20 years experience in the private sector advising clients, industry leaders, corporate boards, trade
associations, and governments on economic and financial issues.
National and global media regularly seek him out for his insight and analysis on economic issues that impact financial markets,
consumers, corporations and public policy. He is also a frequent lecturer in the economic programs of various Canadian
universities.
Mr. Tal is a member of the Economic Committee of The Canadian Chamber of Commerce, The Economic Development Committee
of the Toronto Board of Trade and is a board member of the Toronto Association for Business and Economics (TABE).

Trading Around Dark Pools
My Secrets to Spotting a Sell-off Before it Happens
Approx 30 minutes.
Presented by Stefanie Kammerman aka The Stock Whisperer
Did you know that over 1/3rd of all the trades that are being executed are being done in “The Dark Pool”? Dark pools give
the big guy a huge advantage of the little guy, by being able to hide their orders. They can sell millions of shares at the top
without moving the stock or the market down and they can buy millions of shares at the bottom without moving it up
before they get filled. Learning how to spot these dark pool trades will help you determine whether or not the market is
headed for a correction. The Stock Whisperer has taken many pictures of these dark pool prints and she will help you learn
how to trade around these prints to put the odds in your favor.
Learning where to enter a trade is definitely the most important aspect of trading, whether you’re Day trading or long term
swing trading. In this presentation, the Stock Whisperer will share with you how she finds her infamous “T” Spot. The” T”spot, otherwise known as the trend change will pinpoint the exact spot on your chart where the uptrend turns into a
downtrend and vice versa. Learning how to spot the trend change will not only help you with your entries, it will also help
you learn when to exit your position by drawing basic trend lines on your charts. In this presentation she will be sharing
with you exactly how she picks stocks for her “The Whisper of the Day” YouTube Chanel - and most importantly what level
she will enter them.
Stefanie Kammerman, aka The Stock Whisperer has trained over a thousand traders worldwide how to Day Trade and
Swing Trade over the past 20 years. She earned a BA in Psychology from FAU but decided to pursue her passion for the
stock market. In 1994, she started out as an assistant trader at the prestigious Schoenfeld Securities. In 1996, she became
the first female trader for Onsite Trading, winning the trader of the year award her first year. She successfully ran a trading
desk over the next few years teaching all the new traders the overnight swing system. She is the founder and director of
The Stock Whisperer Trading Company, where she runs an online trading room called “The Java Pit”. She teaches students
online by sharing her screen all day long with many audio meetings. Her unique approach of old fashioned trading in a
high tech world teaches her students how to trade by reading the tape. She is the author of “Counting the Cards of Wall
Street”, an online workshop on trading around volume and technical analysis. She has taken hundreds of pictures of real
time trades in an effort to teach her students how to follow the smart money.
