Durable and Reliable The radio housing is made of PC+ABS for increased durability. Versatile protections including the protecting rim beside the volume control knob, and the supporting point beside the antenna help to minimize damage to the radio in case the radio is dropped. Advanced Speaker Protection Technique Traditional radios only use a common dust & water protection mesh cloth to seal out dust and water. However, the common speaker grill cloth cannot withstand the impact from hard substances such as metal nails, thin sticks, etc. To solve this problem, a protective steel mesh is added to the speaker grill of the RCA BR250 radio to create extra protection for the dust & water resistant mesh cloth and the speaker. Advanced Digital Coded Squelch (CDCSS and CTCSS) Prevents unwanted conversations on the same frequency. High / Low Power Switchable By simply pressing one button, users can switch to low power when communicating within limited range coverage or switch to high power when further distance is required. High transmit power optimizes range coverage while low transmit power conserves battery consumption, all at the user’s control. Monitor Allows users to monitor the activity on the current channel. This feature is especially helpful when receiving a weak signal. Battery Save The Battery Save feature is automatically activated when there is no activity on the channel and no radio operation is performed for extended operation time. Low Battery Alert Alerts the user to recharge the battery when the battery level runs low. Busy Channel Lockout When a channel is already in use, another user is not permitted to transmit on the same channel until current transmission has been completed and the channel is available again. Time-out Timer Alerts the user to recharge the battery when the battery level runs low. PC Programmable You are able to customize the features of each radio for each user. Wired Clone Easily copy the features of one radio to another. Selectable Squelch Level (0-9) The purpose of squelch is to mute audio output from the speaker when no signals are present. The higher the squelch level selected, the stronger the signals must be to receive. The appropriate squelch level depends on ambient RF noise conditions. Channel Scan The channel scan feature enables the radio to continuously scan each channel in the scan listfor activity. Simply press a side function button to activate scanning. When activity is detected on a channel the scan process will stop and you will hear the transmission.
