Guide 2014-2015
Spiritual | Educational | Social | Physical
As salaamu alaikum - Peace be upon you,
This Guide provides an insight on some of our regular activities and forthcoming events
and in so doing, will help to continue to bring the community together, Muslim as well
as Non Muslim. Whether you are seeking physical, educational, social or spiritual
advancement there will be something for you and your family here insha’Allah (God
Willing)!
Harrow is undoubtedly a wonderful place and is recorded as the the most religiously
diverse borough in England and Wales. The Mosque is one of the largest in London
located by the town centre with full disabled access and with a variety of public
transport facilities. Please see our website for further details.
God created human-beings with an innate nature to know each other and
a preference of community to solitude which requires of them that they coexist with people of different affiliations, approaches and beliefs. Therefore
an individual must continuously seek to perfect their understanding of how
to deal with others in order to achieve the loftiest meanings of the Prophetic
inheritance and characteristics.

General Services at HCM
Nikkah (Islamic Marriage) Services
The Nikkah ceremony can be performed either within the Masjid or alternative venues.
We make every effort to meet your time requirements and ensure the happy occasion
is a memorable one. A Nikkah which is performed in the UK is not considered a valid

For this reason, we encourage all our community to ensure a civil marriage is conducted
in a register office as well.

with the Imam’s assistance at the cemetery for further prayers and advices. (Ghusl

School visits

and role in Islam and the local community. It provides opportunities for pupils (and
teachers) to explore Islam and better understand the tradition they are studying inclass, ask questions to clarify their thoughts and ideas and create an experiential
framework for spiritual development and cross-curricular education. We have
hosted many of the schools from across Harrow and beyond including Barnet, Brent,
Hillingdon Uxbridge and Watford.
Interfaith
HCM actively supports interfaith dialogue in Harrow. It’s aim is to encourage all peoples,
those with religious beliefs and those without, to participate in events and activities
which bring people together in order to build mutual respect and understanding.
Some of these programs consist of scholarly discussions and some engage larger
groups from different faith communities. Events are notified online and on our notice

“You should not neglect your time or use it haphazardly; on the contrary you should
bring yourself to account, structure your litanies and other practices during each day
and night, and assign to each period a fixed and specific function. This is how to bring out
the spiritual blessing (barakah) in each period. But if you leave yourself adrift, aimlessly
wandering as cattle do, not knowing how to occupy yourself at every moment, your time
will be lost. It is nothing other than your life, and your life is the capital that you make use
of to reach perpetual felicity in the proximity of God the Exalted”
Imam Ghazali (RA)
