Au pairs are young adults (mostly women) coming from another country to live with and work for a family doing childcare in exchange for room, board and a cultural experience. Traveling to a new country presents them with new challenges as well as unique needs. They find themselves needing friends and encouragement. They need to adjust to a new culture and language. The fact of being alone makes them vulnerable. They often encounter situations for which they are not prepared. LiNK meets these needs through creative meetings, weekend excursions and contact with LiNK’s staff. “Linking” au pairs with each other and to the LiNK staff is a key aspect of meeting their needs. September PACTEC In addition to practical needs, LiNK offers ways for au pairs to explore life with their Creator. They are at a pivotal time of life October when they are asking important life questions.
