Second Grade With Ms. Wiedmann SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS We are off to a wonderful start to second grade! We are using the newly created district curriculum, which correlate with the Common Core State Standards, to guide our learning this year. We are learning to work as a team, develop friendships, and build our classroom community. We are establishing the literacy classroom to promote our reading. We are enjoying books at our own reading level, as well as choosing books that we find fun and interesting. We began our guided reading groups. In writing we are focused on writing personal narratives, including details to make our stories exciting. We are writing about our lives and interests. We began the second grade Phonics/Spelling (Fundations) program. I set up an account on SpellingCity.com with our spelling words. In math we began the enVision Math program, to support our new math curriculum.
