Last year our emphasis was on the invitation extended to all followers to grow together in Jesus,
but this year we are looking at how we as individual members of Christ’s church can be Seeking,
Sowing and Serving the good news of a crucified, risen and soon to return saviour, into the lives
of those who live around us.
Each component involves intentionality. Healthy churches are made up of individuals who are on
the lookout for opportunities to connect with others, and who are looking for ways and means
to make friends and extend their circle of influence. Once the bridge of friendship is established
it takes further intentionality to sow appropriate gospel seeds into their lives such as a listening
ear, a kind word, a bible promise, a personal testimony, some reading material or a DVD. Similarly,
serving you family, neighbours, and work colleagues also takes intentional time and planning.
And yet, if we are open and available to God at all times, he will bring people to us, and in the
natural course of our conversation we will sow the eternal good news of Jesus Christ as we are
impressed by the Holy Spirit.
It is my hope and prayer that you may be blessed, inspired and challenged so that when you return
to your local churches, you can Seek, Sow and Serve those around

as the senior pastor of the Palm Bay Seventh-day Adventist

evangelist in South Korea, South
Africa and New Zealand. He earned
his doctorate in theology from the

number of articles in scholarly and popular journals. He is
married to Charmaine and they have two children, Kerryn
and Chare’. He enjoys hanging out with his family, playing
sport, going to the beach, reading and movies.
Mr Herb Larsen,
Businessman Herb Larsen has made
it his passion to lead the lost to Jesus.
You will not want to miss hearing the
dynamic stories, testimony and “how
to” of a layman who has dedicated
his life to evangelizing the “postmodern secular” for Jesus. In addition
to running his innovative engineering and manufacturing
company, he also maintains a heavy international speaking
schedule engaging in revival for many different denominations.
Pr Japhet De Oliveira
currently serves as Senior Pastor
for Boulder Seventh-day Adventist
Church. Located in the heart of
Colorado, Boulder is listed as a close
second to the least religious city in
the USA.
He recently served as University
Chaplain at Andrews University from 12-13, leading faith
development on campus for students and supporting faculty
and staff. Also as Senior Pastor for the One Place community
on Campus. He was an adjunct professor in youth ministry
at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. He is
an energetic and innovative leader with a passion for young
people.
Japhet was married in 1995 to the former Becky Crooker
(currently pursing her PhD in English Education, at the
University of Western Michigan) and together they have two
warrior sons - Joshua (13) and Jonah (9).
“At the end of the day when I look back on my life, I want
to know that I served well, played hard, that my boys and
wife are proud of me and that God inspired my leadership.
Honestly, what more is there?”
Pr Karyle Barnes He likes
music, food, traveling and trying
adventurous activities. He enjoys
playing basketball and American
Football. His favourite Bible character
is Joseph because of his love for God
at a young age and his determination
to follow God in the darkest times of
his life.
Pr Casey Wolverton
has
lived on three continents, preached
the gospel in five countries, and
broken laws in at least ten. At twentyseven years old he left his home
country (USA) for Australia, began
Newcastle Youth Church and married
an Australian named Katie-Jane.
Today they have two daughters and a growing labradoodle
family of over twenty dogs!
Casey is the pastor of the Glenvale Adventist
Church, and loves sharing stories from the Bible.
His other hobbies include traveling overseas.
Dr Grenville Kent
is an
Australian academic, film producer,
author, and Christian communicator.
He is the producer of Big Questions,
a forthcoming documentary series
examining faith, and the “10 Questions
for God” series of booklets. He has
earned a PhD from the University of
Manchester, England, and a D.Min from the Australian College
of Theology, and teaches Cultural Apologetics (Arts/Theology)
and Old Testament at the Wesley Institute in Sydney.
A popular presenter, Granville’s speaking appointments have
included men’s conferences, theology congresses, camp
meetings, and many others.
He is married to Carla; they have six children: Zoe, Marcus and
Ethan, Thomas, Jeremy and Zara.
Pr Kent has authored dozens of articles, the “10 Questions for
God” Bible study series, films, comic books (graphic novels),
books, and book chapters.
Dr John Hammond retired in 2010 after a career
spanning 41 years of continuous
service for the Seventh-day Adventist
Church. During that time he has
taught at primary, secondary and
tertiary levels and been involved
with the highest levels of church
educational administration for 30
years. He considers that he has been
greatly blest by God and been given
many wonderful opportunities in His service.
John is married to Sue and they have three married children
and four grandchildren.
In 2006 John nearly died after breaking his neck and back
and spent many months in hospital. After awaking from a
long coma he was given an assurance by God that his work
was not yet done.
John grew up in the mission field in Penang, Malaysia where
his father was a doctor. He has also served as a missionary
himself being principal of Fulton College in Fiji.
In his spare time, John has many speaking appointments and
teaches when requested. He has undertaken some very long
and lonely voyages into the remote centre of Australia and
has learned to survive in very dangerous desert areas. As a
hobby he makes quality knives and enjoys his workshop.
