1. Kittilä (all-year-round) The municipality Centre provide
the locals their basic services. Visit the beautiful wooden
church of Kittilä by the famous architect C.L. Engel built in
1831. Palsa-museum, open June-September on Tue–Sat
12–18. Einari Junttila Art Museum in the Centre open on
Thursdays 13–17, other times upon request. Tel. +358 40
703 4657. Visit also the Local History and Culture Museum
at Pakatti, open on July Tue–Sat 11–17.
2. Reidar Särestöniemi Art Museum (all-year-round) close
to Kaukonen, 50 km south from Levi. Open Tue–Sat 12–18.
Groups upon request.
3. Galleria Raekallio (all-year-round) in Pöntsö, 18 km
north from Levi. Home of the painter Reijo Raekallio.
Open daily 10–20.
4. Villa Magia (all-year-round) in Kaukonen, 40 km south
from Levi. An athmospheric stable café and Marja-Liisa
Nummela art gallery. Milla Magia Design boutique.
5. Kätkätunturin Erä ja Luonto (all-year-round)
6. Nulituinen (summers) remains of an ancient Lapp
village
7. Levi Ice Gallery (winters) in Luvattumaa
8. Lainio Snow Village (winters) the largest snow village
of the area
9. Keimiön koukkaus (all-year-round) and the old fishing
cabins
10. Sammalselkä (summers) 70 km from Levi towards
Inari. A reindeer fence and 7 wilderness cabins
reconstructed by The National Board of Antiquities and
Historical Monuments.
11. Pokka ja Taatsin seita (summers) Pokka is the gate
towards Samiland. There is a massive stone by the shore
of Taatsi lake, it used to be one of the most worshipped
stone slabs for sacrifice in Lapland. The area is still
considered to be sacred by many locals and is therefore
kept in a natural state.
12. Ruoppaköngäs (summers) 22 km north from Levi.
Area surrounded by beautiful nature, rocks and cliffs, a
waterfall and rich flora. Swimming in the lake is possible
(not suitable for small children).
13. Koivarova mill (summers) 35 km north from Levi in
Rauhala, a mill reconstructed by the National Board of
Antiquities and Historical Monuments.
14. Volcano Park of Linkupalo (summers) 40 km from
Levi, along Aakenuksentie road. Along the short path
knowledge of the ancient remains of lava flows and
volcanic rocks. A kota and fireplace.
15. Kukkurajärvi bird watching tower (summers) in
Riikonkumpu
16. Karinnokka bird watching tower (summers) in Kittilä
17. Akanrimpi bird watching tower (summers) in Köngäs
18. Aakenustunturi (all-year-round) nature path, skiing
– and hiking routes, 25 km from Levi
19. Kumputunturi (all-year-round) a steep-sloped fell in
natural state, 60 km from Levi
20. Särkitunturi (summers) in Särkijärvi, 47 km north
from Levi. The path takes you to the top of the fell where
you find fell ponds. Suitable for swimming. The path is
suitable for children.
21. Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park (all-year-round) in
the municipalities of Muonio, Enontekiö, Kolari and Kittilä.
The Visitor Centres of Metsähallitus, Pallastunturi and
Kellokas, both situated about an hour drive away from
Levi.
22. Samiland (all-year-round) An exhibition presenting the
history and present day of the only Finnish ethnic group,
the sámi. Partly founded by UNESCO.
