Below, names of the paths named after different doctors and psychologists
connected to Vejlefjord in the tuberculosis sanatorium days

Grandmothers
bridge
The original bridge was a gift from a patient. The bridge
was renovated in 2012 with grants from Real Dania.

Fire places.
The Dove Tree
Very rare tree that blooms in May & June. The leaves
resemble white doves or handkerchiefs. Also known as
“the handkerchief tree”.

The Anniversary
Oak
Dead oak tree which stands as a memorial. The tree
was planted to mark the 40th anniversary of the
“Skydeselskab”.
Bernhard Bangshøj
Mr. Bang, Danish veterinary, the first using tuberculin
for cattle.
Bodintonsvej
Mr. Bodinton, Doctor, wrote in 1840 on the treatment
of lung sickness through nutritional food and
movements in clean and fresh air.
Bræmers Plads
Mr. Bræmer, Chief psychologist. He started in 1985
with rehabilitation of brain-damaged at Vejlefjord.
Died in July 1990.
Dettweilersvej
Mr. Dettweiler, Physician at the Brehmers Sanatorium
in Göbersdorf, Germany.

Kongens Nytorv
A peaceful counterpart to “Kongens Nytorv” in Copen­
hagen. It is characterized by a white wooden horse.
Evaldsbakke
Beautiful vantage point, 82 meters above sea level.
The King Beech
Beech where the strain is 18 meters before first branch.
Farimagsvej
Paths with slight increases for the weak patients.

Finsensvej
Mr. Finsen, Danish professor. He received the Nobel
Prize for proving the value of light beams as a
medicine in 1903. Founder of the Finsen Institute.

The Mask Tree
Ceramic masks as the brain damaged patients produced
as part of their rehabilitation.

The Source
The original drinking water supply at Vejlefjord.
The Tulip Tree
Blooms in midsummer with special and very beautiful
yellow/green tulip-like flowers.
The Forest Tower From November 2001.
The-Kiss-Me-Now- Old hunting lodge. According to history the young
Cottage
patients met here for secret rendezvous. Rebuilt in 2012
with grants from Real Dania.
Gravesensvej
Mr. Gravesen, Chief physician at Vejlefjord from 1923
to 1944.
H.C. Jacobæusvej
Mr. Jacobæus, Swedish doctor.
Laennecsvej
Mr. Laennec, French doctor.
MacCormaksvej
MacCormak, Irish doctor.
P. Carl Petersensvej
Mr. Petersen, Merchant. He founded a large
scholarship for treatment of and research into
tuberculosis. He himself was cured in Vejlefjord.

Burial Place
Mr. Saugman, founder of Vejlefjord, and his wife Augusta
are buried here.
Mr. Reisz, Danish professor. He took the first initiative
to set up a tuberculosis sanatorium in Denmark.

Lighthouse
Build in 1904 and was used until 1968. There is free
access throughout the year. It is 14 meters high. .
Robert Kochsvej
Mr. Koch discovered tuberculin in 1890.

Saugmansvej
Mr. Saugman established Vejle Fjord Sanatorium
and worked as Chief physician on site until his
death in 1923.

Sneglebakken
Scientific landscaped path to the top of a hill. When
patients were able to walk to the top of this hill, they
should be cured.
Villemins Høj
Mr. Villemin, French doctor who proved that
tuberculosis was contagious.
Williamsvej
Mr. Williams, English doctor, specialist in
tuberculosis.
Bell, which were given by patients and staff. The bell
rings every day at 08:00 and 16:00
Training course
Area of training modules, may be used by all.
Therapy garden
Used by the Vejlefjord Rehabilitation center as part of
the rehabilitation.
