Beovox 5000 versions
Bang & Olufsen designed the Beovox 5000 for the Beolab 5000.
During the period the Beolab 5000 was available (1967 – 1972) 3 different
versions of the Beovox 5000 were released.
In this technical note I will try to give an overview of these versions.
You will also find a Danish and English user manual for the Beovox 5000
and the circuit diagram for all 3 versions.

Et BEOLAB Hi-Fi system vil kun yde den perfekte lydgengivelse, hvis der tilsluttes et sæt BEOVOX 5000, der er udviklet til
BEOLAB 5000 serien..
BEOVOX 5000 højttalerne vil give dig den samme lyd intensitet i din egen stue, som kan opleves i koncertsalen.
Der er mange års udvikling før BEOLAB systemet og BEOVOX 5000 blev klar til produktion. Det betyder, at BEOLAB 5000
systemet med BEOVOX 5000 kan gengive et fantastisk lydbillede med overvældende intensitet, et imponerende tone område
og med meget lav forvrængning.
For BEOLAB systemet kan der opnås yderligere perfektion af lydbilledet, ved at tilkoble et sæt BEOVOX 2500 Cube til
BEOVOX 5000. Det vil betyde en væsentlig forbedring i det samlede lydbillede.
Sidst men ikke mindst, BEOVOX 5000 overholder DIN 45 500 normen.
Placering af BEOVOX 5000
Dine to BEOVOX 5000 bør placeres efter nogle enkle retningslinjer, for at opnå den bedste stereo gengivelse i det rum
anlægget skal bruges. Stereo effekten og det imponerende lydbillede vil kunne opnås, hvis disse retningslinjer følges.
Der er nogle afstande, der bør iagttages. Det er afstanden mellem de to BEOVOX 5000 og afstanden fra BEOVOX 5000 til
lyttepositionen.

Kablerne fra de to BEOVOX 5000 højttalere føres til højttaler stikdåserne på BEOLAB 5000.
Venstre højttaler forbindes til stikdåsen mærket <Left> og højre til <Right>.
Kablerne må gerne forlænges, når blot polariseringen bibeholdes, dvs. det flade stikben skal
stadig forbindes til det flade hul i stikdåsen.
Bemærk: Eventuelle forlængerledninger eller kabelføringer i et kombineret stereo arrangement
må ikke være udført således, at de to højttalere under nogen form får fælles ledningsføring, f.eks.
fælles nulleder.
Mellemtone
regulering
Styrken af mellemtoneområdet kan reguleres med knappen <Midrange>, der er anbragt på
bagsiden af BEOVOX 5000. I stilling 3 er der ret frekvensgang, og stilling 1 giver

af mellemtonerne, mens der i stilling 5 opnås en fremhævning af mellemtoneområdet.
Reguleringen mellem 1 og 5 andrager ca. 10 dB.
Højtone
regulering
(Diskant)
Styrken af højtoneområdet kan reguleres med knappen <Treble>, der er anbragt på
bagsiden af BEOVOX 5000. I stilling 3 er der ret frekvensgang, og stilling 1 giver dæmpning
af højtonerne, mens der i stilling 5 opnås en fremhævning af højtoneområdet. Reguleringen
mellem 1 og 5 andrager ca. 10 dB. (Denne regulering findes på typerne 6206 og 6223)
Udvendig
Diskanthøjttaler
En udvendig diskanthøjttaler, f.eks. højttaler rundspreder BEOVOX 2500 CUBE,
kan sluttes til stikdåsen på bagsiden af BEOVOX 5000 mærket <External tweeter>.
De indbyggede diskant højttalere afbrydes automatisk for BEOVOX 5000 type 6206 og 6216.

Your BEOLAB Hi-Fi system will only give you perfect reproduction if you connect a pair of BEOVOX 5000 speakers to it.
The BEOVOX 5000 speakers will give you the same sound intensity in your own room as in the concert hall.
You know what tests your BEOLAB system has been through and what that means in terms of superlative performance – and
performance is after all what you are interested in. The BEOVOX 5000 permits you to realize the full benefit of the performance
of which your BEOLAB is capable – in regard to power output frequency response, and low distortion.
You can extend your BEOLAB system still further by connecting a pair of BEOVOX 2500 CUBE high-frequency diffusers to the
BEOVOX 5000.
Last but not least: the BEOVOX 5000 meets the minimum specifications for the DIN 45 500 Standards.
Placement of BEOVOX 5000
Your two BEOVOX 5000 speakers should be placed for best possible stereo reproduction. Since the sound picture is composed
of the sound from the two speakers, the stereo effect will only be noticed outside a certain minimum distance from the speakers.
This distance is also dependent on the spacing between the two speakers. The table below will make is easy for you to find the
best placement.

The cables from the two BEOVOX 5000 speakers should be plugged into the speaker jacks on
your BEOLAB 5000. The left speaker should be connected to the jack marked <Left> and the
right speaker to the jack marked <Right>.
You may extend the cables if you wish, provided you maintain the polarization: the flat plug of the
original cable should be connected to the flat socket hole in the jack.

Note: Extension cables or cabling in a stereo installation must not be connected in such a
manner that the two speakers have common wiring in any form, such as a common return lead.

Mid-range
The volume of the mid-range frequencies is adjustable with the MID-RANGE control, located on
the back of your BEOVOX 5000. The 3 position provides flat frequency response. The 1 position
attenuates the mid-range frequencies. The 5 position accentuates the mid-range frequencies.
The control range between 1 and 5 is approx. 10 dB.
Treble
The volume of the high-range frequencies is adjustable with the TREBLE-RANGE control, located
on the back of your BEOVOX 5000. The 3 position provides flat frequency response. The 1
position attenuates the mid-range frequencies. The 5 position accentuates the mid-range
frequencies. The control range between 1 and 5 is approx. 10 dB. This volume regulation is
available in BEOVOX 5000 type 6206 og 6223.
External
An external tweeter such as the BEOVOX 2500 CUBE high frequency diffuser may be plugged
into the jack on the back of your BEOVOX 5000. This will automatically cut out the built-in
tweeters for BEOVOX 5000 type 6206 og 6216.
