WELCOME TO DENMARK
DEAR FRIENDS
Welcome to Copenhagen!
The Danish Swimming Federation is looking forward to hosting the European Open Water Swimming Cup for the first
time ever on August 29th.
28 elite athletes will be participating at the 10 km European Cup, which is taking place with the mass event “TrygFonden Copenhagen Swim” with almost 3000 participants. I am sure it will be a great day in the beautiful settings of Copenhagen with a fantastic atmosphere, and a lot of great swimming through the canals around the Danish Parliament.
Copenhagen is known for its clean water in the harbor and we are thankful that the City of Copenhagen supports our
event. Without the support of the municipality we wouldn’t be able to give you this unique opportunity to swim in
water this clean in the center of the city.
Denmark is a country of more than 7500 km. of coastline, and we find it very important that everybody should learn
how to swim, and that people feel comfortable swimming in open water. By hosting the TrygFonden Copenhagen Swim
and the European Cup we hope that even more people will find it attractive to swim in open water in a safe and beautiful environment.
I am proud to be the president of an organization that is able to invite you to such great event. That wouldn’t be possible without all the volunteers and swimmers, whose support is invaluable and priceless. Therefore I will like to express
a special thanks to all the volunteers, to the City of Copenhagen and to Sport Event Denmark for making it possible for
