Overview of event
Introduction to Nuclear Defence is an annual, two day seminar which aims to provide delegates with an overview
of the UK’s Nuclear Defence Industry. The 2013 event, held at BAE Systems in Barrow-in-Furness, focused on
the design, build and operation of nuclear submarines and the role played by the Shipbuilder in supporting the
Submarine Programme. This year’s event which is kindly hosted by Babcock in Devonport will focus on the
through-life support offered to the UK’s submarine fleet.
The 2014 seminar will include talks from high profile speakers from within the Nuclear Defence Industry as well
as site tours of the Low Level Refuelling Facility (LLRF) and the Submarine Refit Complex (SRC) which will give
delegates a unique opportunity to see the through-life support process.
