Gruppe 9 Danmark som Kolonimagt Brev til Shelley Moorhead Bilag 1 Dear Mr. Moorhead. My name is Trine Køhler and I write to you from Roskilde University, Denmark. I am part of a group of 5 students who are all in our second semester of university. We are currently writing a project on the US Virgin Islands (former Danish West Indian Islands) and the current debate on whether Denmark should offer an apology and reparations. Our project will also include topics like racism, identity, whiteness theory, and a discussion on how the colonization has had an impact on society in the Virgin Islands today. Our main focuses is to get to the bottom of the current debate, the question of why the past is still important in today’s society and what impact the past has had on the national identity of both Denmark and the US Virgin Islands. Therefore we would like to ask if you would be interested in giving an interview regarding these topics. The interview would last around 30-45 minutes. The interview would make it possible for us to discuss the Danish influence on the Virgin Islands today and the debate regarding the apology in a very first-hand approach. The interview will therefore be a great addition to our project. If you are available for an interview it would be greatly appreciated. The time and date for the interview is more or less your decision. We are aware of the time difference and are therefore prepared to be ready whenever it suits you best. Thank you for taking the time to read our mail. We hope to hear from you soon.
