MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
To Cevdet Fat in Grade 1/2B for the huge effor t he has been applying to his r eading
skills. He has put in 100% effort and is trying really hard. Well done Cevdet, keep up the
good work.
To Deen Yousuf, Areeba Maryam, Irham Muhamad-Kadir, Kenan Baydar, Mariam
Albir, Kerim Salahi, Mustafa Tahery, Harun Ahmet Sevgi from Grades 5 and 6 for
completing the 2014 Maths Olympiad. Deen scored in the top 25% of all students competing and achieved the highest score for the Mt Hira team of 15 points.
To Deen Yousuf from Grade 6 for assisting with outfits on the Dr ess Rehear sal
Day. Your efforts were much appreciated. It is lovely to see students using their initiative and helping others.
To all the Year 7 students who conducted themselves beautifully and r epr esented
Mt Hira College very well on their economics excursion to Dandenong Market and Plaza. Well done for upholding school values and demonstrating good behavior. The staff
received many compliments on what lovely students they were with beautiful manners
when dealing with members of the public. This is very pleasing to hear.
To the Year 9 Boys who attended an excur sion to the gym and joined in with some classes. Well done to you all. See photographs.
To the following Year 9 Advanced Maths students for achieving exceptional results in their
Probability test last week: Somayah Husayni, Abdullah Muhammed, Aaron Sadirov and
Bekim Shukri. Well done to all of you, I know Ms Walsh was ver y pleased with your
results.
To the following students from Year 10 General Maths for achieving their personal best in
their Matrices test last week: Ceyda Serbest, Kadir Secen, Burcu Kocoglu, Selin Yildiz and
Ilyas Hussein. It is pleasing to see you all wor king har d.
To Ms Hulya for working so hard to make all of the preps costumes in time for the concert. They
all look amazing!
Primary School Concert
The time has finally arrived for our Primary School concert which is on tonight, Thursday 30th October, at the Frankston Art Centre. All students must be at the theatre by
6.15pm ready to be on stage at 7.00pm. It is vitally important that everyone is there on
time. I am certainly looking forward to seeing the concert tonight and want to thank all
the students, staff and parents who have worked so hard to make this night special.
Long Weekend
This weekend is a long weekend for students. There is a no school for students tomorrow, Friday 31 st
October to allow the primary students to recover from their late night at the theatre. Staff will be attending a Curriculum Day. There is also no school on Monday or Tuesday the 3rd and 4th November as it is
the Melbourne Cup public holiday. I hope everyone enjoys their long weekend and we will see everyone
back at school on Wednesday 5th November.
VCE Examinations
The English VCE Examination took place this Wednesday. The students were all here nice and early
but were looking a bit nervous. There will now be examinations for the next three weeks. All examinations will take place in Room 15 so there should be minimal disruptions. When examinations are taking
place we request that everyone stays away from the Room 15 area. Good luck to all our year 11 and 12
students who are sitting their VCE examinations. Remember there are VCE examinations on Friday 31st
October and Monday 3rd November even though other students are not at school on these days.
Sausage Sizzle
Last week the Year 12 students organised a Sausage Sizzle to help raise money for their graduation.
They were very well organised and everything ran very smoothly. They raised over $700 thanks to the
generous support of some of our families. Thank you to the Arab family, (Mustafa, Loulwah and Jad)
who donated all the bread and the Kirmaci family who provided the sausages. Your donations and support are very much appreciated. Thank you also to all the staff and students who assisted on the day.

7. VE 8. SINIF TÜRKÇE ÖĞRENCİLERİ İLE
OSMANLI YAŞLILAR EVİNİ ZİYARET:
Avustralya`da Türkler ve aile konusunu
işlediğimizden 7 ve 8.Sınıf Türkçe
öğrencileri ile 23.10.2014 tarihinde Osmanlı Yaşlılar Evine bir ziyaret düzenlendi. Amacımız burada ki yaşlı ve yalnız insanlara moral vermek ve onların yanında
olduğumuzu göstermekti. Öğrencilerimiz
yaşlılarla sohbet ettiler, şarkılar
söylediler,halay çektiler, oynadılar ve
böylece birkaç saatte olsa onların
yalnızlığını gidermiş oldular. Öğrencilerim
ve oradaki yaşlılarımızdan bazıları çok
duygulu anlar yaşadılar. Kendi anne babaları yaşlandığında onları asla yalnız
bırakmayacaklarını ve hep yanlarında
olacaklarını ifade ettiler.Bu olumlu
düşüncelerinden dolayı, bütün
öğrencilerime çok teşekkür ediyorum.

29 EKİM CUMHURİYET BAYRAMI
Türk Milleti olarak Cumhuriyet`e nasıl kavuştuk, kısaca sizlere açıklamaya çalışacağım.
1914 tarihinde başlayıp, 1918 tarihinde biten Birinci Dünya Savaşı sonunda, müttefik
devletlerin yenilmesiyle, Osmanlı Devleti`de yenilmiş sayılarak, Mondros ve Sevr Antlaşmaları`nı
imzaladı. Bunun üzerine İstanbul işgal edildi, ordularımız dağıtıldı. Bununla da kalmayan düşman
devletler yurdumuza saldırarak; Tarihte hiçbir zaman yok olmayan Türk Devleti`ni ortadan kaldırmak
istedi. Bu durumu gören Atatürk, 19 Mayıs 1919 da Samsun`a çıktı ve Kurtuluş Savaşı`nı başlattı.
Atatürk, Önce Amasya Genelgesi`ni yayınladı. Halkın seçtiği temsilcilerin katılımı ile Erzurum ve
Sivas Kongreleri`ni yaptı. Bu yapılan kongrelerde, vatanın bağımsızlığı için sonuna kadar savaşılmasına
karar verildi. Atatürk milletin kendi seçtiği temsilcilerle 23 Nisan 1920 tarihinde Ankara`da Türkiye
Büyük Millet Meclisi`ni kurdu. Başkanlığına, meclis tarafından M.K. Atatürk seçildi. Bu hükümet düzenli
ordusunu kurarak, yurdumuzdan düşmanları temizlemek için gerekli çalışmalara başladı. Askeri,ekonomik ve siyasi alanda çalışmalar yaptı. << Meclis Hükümet Yönetimi >> ta o zamandan adı
konulmamış bir Cumhuriyet yönetimiydi.
Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi ve O`nun hükümeti, çağın en modern silah ve gücüne sahip
düşman ordularına karşı yapılan; İnönü, Sakarya, Dumlupınar ve Başkomutanlık Meydan Savaşları`nı
kazandı ve vatan toprakları 9 Eylül 1922 tarihinde düşmanlardan tamamen temizlendi. Böylece
Türkler`in tutsak olarak yaşayamıyacağı bir kez daha dünyaya ilan edildi.Savaşın sonunda yapılan Lozan
Barış Antlaşması`ndan hemen sonra Atatürk, çağı yakalamak ve modern bir Türkiye kurmak için gerekli
çalışmalara başladı. 1 Kasım 1922 de saltanat kaldırıldı. Yerine Cumhuriyet yönetimi kabul edilerek 29
Ekim 1923 de Türkiye`nin yönetim biçiminin Cumhuriyet olduğu bütün dünyaya duyuruldu. Meclis
tarafından ilk Cumhurbaşkanlığına Atatürk seçildi. Cumhuriyet bir yönetim biçimidir. Cumhuriyet halkın
kendi kendini yönetmesidir. Cumhuriyet demokrasi ve özgürlük demektir.
Atatürk kurduğu Türkiye Cumhuriyeti`ne Cumhurbaşkanı olarak çok büyük hizmetlerde
bulundu. Sağlığında << Benim ölümlü vücudum elbet bir gün toprak olacaktır. Ama Türkiye Cumhuriyeti
sonsuza kadar yaşayacaktır.>> Sözleriyle Türk Devleti`nin sonsuza kadar yaşayacağını belirtmiştir.
Atatürk << Gençler Cumhuriyeti biz kurduk, Onu siz yaşatacak ve devam ettireceksiniz. >> Diyerek
vatanımızın ve Milletimizin geleceğinin tek güvencesinin, siz Türk gençleri olduğunu açıkça ifade
etmiştir.
Bu vesile ile Kurtuluş Savaşı`mızın kazanılmasında ve bu vatan için canını seve seve veren aziz
şehitlerimizi minnetle anıyor, Allah`tan rahmet diliyor, hepinizin Cumhuriyet Bayramı`nı kutluyor ve
saygılar sunuyorum.
