A relaxation of 5% marks is allowed in the case of applicants belonging to SC/ST communities as per the guidelines of the UGC and hence applicants belonging to the said two communities who have secured B Grade or 50% marks are eligible to apply for admission. Post Graduate students in English/Hindi/Malayalam/Sanskrit and Comparative Literature and Linguistics can apply for the Interdisciplinary course in Translation Studies and those who have Post Graduate Degrees in Gender Studies, Women Studies, Languages and Social Sciences can apply for admission to the M.Phil Programme in Gender Studies. Those candidates awaiting results of P.G. Examinations can also apply and shall be granted provisional admission if they qualify for the same. However, such candidates shall produce their P.G. marklists and qualifying certificates within three months from the date of admission failing which the provisional admissions granted to them are liable to be cancelled. Applicants for the Direct Ph.D Programme who are employed as teachers in Universities, Schools, Colleges on permanent basis under Government/Quasi Government services shall be eligible for registration to the Ph.D Programme on part time basis. Related subject: Related subject can be in any discipline having some converging issues with the native subject offered by the departments concerned. Applicants who have obtained their Qualifying Degrees in related subjects can be granted admission only if their research is of an interdisciplinary nature. The Research Committees of the departments will ensure it. Admission:- Admissions to the M.Phil., Integrated M.Phil-Ph.D. and Direct Ph.D programmes shall be on the basis of an Entrance Examination and interview conducted by the University. UGC-JRF qualified candidates, teachers of Universities, Government Colleges and Aided Colleges with a minimum of 2 published works in referred research journals are exempted from the Entrance Examination for admission to M.Phil and Integrated M.Phil-Ph.D Programmes.. UGC NET/SLET candidates are not exempted from the Entrance Test. Regular Teachers of Universities/Colleges with a minimum service of 5 years are exempted for the Entrance Test for admission to the Direct Ph.D Programme. In each subject there shall be a rank list prepared, based on the marks secured by the candidates in the entrance exam and interview conducted by the Research Committees of the academic departments concerned. Admissions shall be made from the rank list. Those candidates who possess the M.Phil. Degree of this University with B+ grade or equivalent M.Phil. degree of other Universities recognized by the University and who wish to register for the Ph.D. programme can seek direct registration to the Ph.D programme, subject to their fulfilling all other relevant conditions. Applicants seeking admission to the Direct Ph.D. programme in Ayurveda should have Masters Degree in Ayurveda from a recognized University and approved by C.C.I.M. Admission to the Direct Ph.D. programme in Ayurveda shall be on the basis of the Entrance Examination conducted by the University and the interview conducted by the Research Committee. Applicants are directed to submit their applications for admission to the M.Phil., Integrated M.Phil-Ph.D. and Direct Ph.D. programmes 2015 through online in the University’s Websites : www.ssus.ac.in & www.ssusonline.org on or before 31.10.2014. Admissions shall be made from the rank list. 4.0 The Entrance Examination will carry 100 marks, out of which 80 marks are for the written test and the remaining 20 marks will be for the Interview/Group discussion conducted by the Research Committee of the department concerned. 4.1 Candidates are directed to download the Hall Ticket from the University website w.e.f. 12.11.2014 onwards, using the pass word allotted at the time of online registration. 4.2 The candidates who secure 50% marks or above in the Entrance Examination alone will be considered for admission. The candidates belonging to the SC/ST communities require only a minimum of 45% marks in the Entrance Examination. They will be eligible for all relaxations as per the UGC guidelines. In the absence of sufficient number of candidates from the SC/ST categories the vacancies shall be filled up as per rules, after re-notification. The reservation policy adopted by the State/Central Governments and UGC for the students belonging to SC/ST, OEC, and OBC Communities from time to time will be followed. For this, each department will be treated as a separate unit. 4.3 The number of candidates to be admitted to the M.Phil. and Integrated M.Phil.-Ph.D. programmes in a department will be decided by the Research Committee of the department based on vacancy of berths and availability of supervising teachers. 5.0 All candidates who get admission to the M.Phil. and Integrated M.Phil.-Ph.D. programmes should undergo Course Work. 5.1 Applicants for the Direct Ph.D Programme who are employed as teachers in Universities/School Teachers/College Teachers on permanent basis under Government/Quasi Government services shall be eligible for registration to the Ph.D. Programme on part time basis. The maximum period permissible for part time research scholars to submit Ph.D. thesis will be six years from the date of registration to the Ph.D. programme. An extension of one more year for them may be granted by the Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the Doctoral Committee, if necessary. 6.0 Admission to the Direct Ph.D. programme will be conducted only after admissions to the M.Phil. and Integrated M.Phil.-Ph.D. programmes are completed. 7.0 Candidates who possess the M.Phil. Degree of this University with B+ Grade or equivalent M.Phil. Degree of other Universities recognized by the University will be admitted to the Direct Ph.D. programme subject to their fulfilling the other relevant conditions. Such candidates need to appear for the Entrance Examination conducted by the University and interview conducted by the Research Committee of the department concerned. Interview will be based on the written research proposal of the candidates. Availability of approved guides, their willingness to guide on a specific research proposal, vacancy of seats etc. will be taken into account for granting admission. 8.0. Direct Ph.D. programme in Ayurveda 8.01 Eligibility :- Masters Degree in Ayurveda from a recognized University and approved by C.C.I.M. 8.02 Admission :- Admission to the Direct Ph.D. programme in Ayurveda shall be on the basis of the Entrance Examination conducted by the University and the interview conducted by the Research Committee of the Department of Ayurveda. All candidates who get admission to the Direct Ph.D. programme in Ayurveda shall do a Course Work in the following areas for a minimum period as specified by UGC. a) Research Methodology and Bio/Medical Statistics b) Trends and advances in interdisciplinary research c) Development of integrated research models d) Scientific/Technical Language and Literature in Sanskrit Teachers working in Colleges/Universities shall be permitted to convert to Part Time research after the successful completion of the Course Work. 9. 0 An Entrance Examination fee of Rs.150/- should be paid along with the application by way of SSUS Chalan Receipt which can be remitted at any branch of Union Bank of India. The said fee can also be remitted by way of D.D. drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, payable at Union Bank of India, Kalady Branch. Applicants should write their names, address with phone numbers and purpose on the reverse side of the D.D. 10.
