Lions, Lionesses, and Leos,
By the time you read this the region rallies will be history. I
would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to all the Region and Zone chairpersons that worked so hard to make
these events successful and fun for everyone. Many deserving
Lions received recognition for their hard work and we all certainly enjoyed much good food and fellowship during the rallies.

As we head into November, we all look forward to the coming
of Thanksgiving. For me this is a time of counting my blessings and for giving to those that are in need. Were it not for
the generosity of our Lions, Lionesses, and Leos many would
go hungry at this time of the year. If you are looking for
something meaningful to do in the month of November, consider holding a food drive or supporting your local food bank.
Maybe volunteering at a community Thanksgiving dinner
would be something your club is interested in doing. Whatever you choose it will make a difference in the life of someone less fortunate than yourself and what a great feeling it is
to put a little sunshine into someone’s life.

November GREETINGS LIONS, LIONESS & LEOS!!
The Rally’s are history, congratulations to all deserving Lions who have been given awards. The next event on the
agenda is the Nov. 16 Cabinet Meeting. All Lions are welcome at any or all Cabinet Meetings; I’d love to see you there.
At the time that I wrote this I was having a “chill out” Sunday, reading, watching TV, dozing! In between naps I found a
movie, “Battleship” which had the U.S. Navy vs. Aliens in an
all out war in of all places Hawaii. I hope that isn’t a sign of
things to come when I head there for the International Convention. Next I watched “Prospectors”, finding fabulous gems
in the hills of Colorado. As I was surfing the channels I found “Bulls on the Beach”,
competition bull riding leading up to the PBR Finals in Las Vegas which happens in
late October. Of course I ended the day with watching football. Peyton Manning tied
Brett Favre’s record of touchdown passes of 509!!
Now you know some of my interests, perhaps you have some of the same. In relationship to our Lions connection, are we all on the same page in serving those less
fortunate while putting effort into increasing our numbers? Each month I notice on the
MMR’s that clubs lose a member here, lose 2 there. This in not a good thing.
District 14D has been known as one of the best in the State & when I say District,
I’m not talking about the Cabinet. We are all the District, Lancaster & Lebanon Counties, working together for a common goal, to serve & to interest others to help in the
effort. The Region & Zone Chairpersons are there to serve the Clubs of the District
as are the many Committee Chairpersons who are eager to share their knowledge on
their particular expertise. I look at the Cabinet as something to put in a tool box, using them to build a better Club, using them to answer questions, help solve a problem. Oftentimes someone viewing something from the outside can see a different
slant on things. As Clubs are there to serve their communities the Cabinet is there to
serve the Clubs on the journey we have all made a commitment to travel, together!
The May State Convention will be here in a flash. Notices will soon be going out
Statewide. Plan to register; a whopping cost of $12.50 gets you into seminars, Hospitality Night, the State Band concert, ya gotta hear them!! The Convention Display has
been circulating at all the Rally’s & other events. Get to know what is happening &
get involved!
I’m wishing all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving with family & friends. Remember,
there is always, always something to be thankful for. I’m thankful for the U.S. Navy;
they sure wiped up the floor with those Aliens!!

Notes and Hints from your Global Leadership Team
The Club Excellence Process (CEP).
Has your Club considered the Club Excellence Process? Building s successful Lions or
Lioness Club is a process, and it begins with the Club Excellence Process. CEP is a fun,
interactive workshop that brings members together to talk about what your club is today
and what it will be tomorrow. It gives your club the tools to energize your service, enhance
member satisfaction and set goals to keep your club on track for continued growth.
We have 8 clubs in our District that have completed the CEP process and all are becoming
better clubs. We also have 4 clubs that are going though the process at the time of this
message. CEP gives your club to opportunity to celebrate your club’s accomplishments
and discuss what it can accomplish in the future. It will also identify unmet community
needs.
Whether your clubs feels it needs assistance to grow or meet the needs of your community
or your club feels it is a good club and would like to become either a better club or an excellent club, the Club Excellence Process would be a great benefit to assure successes in
the future.

Greeting Fellow Lions: Lionesses & Leos
As you know, October was busy with 6 region rallies and all our fall Lion’s activities. October
31st through November 2nd I’ll be joining fellow Lions at a gathering in Grantville for one of
the annual State Council Meetings. This will be my 2nd State gathering, and I’m amazed and
encouraged by the dedication and enthusiasm I have seen, there is so much to learn about
the process of continuing the goals of Lionism.
As I have told you in the past, our District 14D Convention will be a month earlier, March 2728, 2015. This earlier date will accommodate our District in being able to host the State
meeting in May at the Host Resort in Lancaster. As you know, “Presidents Honor Night “will
be March 27th 6pm at Yoder’s Buffet in New Holland, see you there!
Remember, each Lion’s Club will be asked to donate a theme basket for each event.
Ps: Don’t forget to sign up early for the Amish Experience at the Convention in May – the first
200 members who sign up will receive the limited addition pin.

NEW HOLLAND LIONS CLUB NEWS
Will be selling ham sandwiches and chicken corn soup at New Holland's
Christmas on Main on Saturday, December 6.
The Akron Lions Club have a electric grill that we would like
to donate to another club free of charge. It is a older grill
which has made many toasted cheese burgers.
It is a Star 208 volt 24"x36" with two controls. It did work
when last used, it would need a cord.

Mountville Lions Club will have a blood drive on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 1 to 6:30 PM at Trinity
UCC Church, located next to the swimming
pool in Mountville. Donors may reserve a time

sandwiches, drinks, and desserts are available

2015 Pennsylvania Lions State Convention
Lancaster, PA. May 14 – 17
District 14D is pleased to host all Pennsylvania Lions, Lionesses, and LEOs for the 92 nd annual
State Lions Convention in Lancaster May 14 through 17, 2015. We encourage all to register early for
the convention, to be held at the Lancaster Host Resort and Convention Center.
Come to the convention to meet and greet International President Joe Preston and his wife,
Lion Joni. IP Joe Preston will be our speaker at the International Banquet on Saturday evening, May
16.
On Saturday afternoon, you will want to hear motivational speaker Anne Beiler, founder of
Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. She is sure to inspire us with her vision of service.
For those intrigued by the Amish, we have arranged a special dinner and presentation at Plain
and Fancy Restaurant and the Amish Experience on Thursday evening May 14. Register early so
you can be among the first 200 who sign up for both this event and the convention and receive a
limited edition quilt pin.
For the golfers among us, the Host Convention Committee has arranged for anyone who
registered for the convention to play the Host Resort’s course at a reduced rate.
Come to District 14D to enjoy a wide variety of attractions, including Dutch Wonderland,
which is across the street from the hotel, as well as the American Music Theater and shopping outlets
just down Route 30 from the hotel.
And be sure to take in some local history and scenery. A short drive west will take you into
the city of Lancaster, where you can shop at Central Market, take a walking tour, or visit Wheatland,
the home of the only US President from Pennsylvania. In the other direction, a short drive will take
you through scenic farmland, with roadside stands offering produce and handmade Amish products.
Join your fellow Lions, Lionesses, and LEOs for fun, fellowship, and learning more about Lions
at the State Convention next May.

Lions Buffet Breakfast at Brickerville
Brickerville, PA
The Baron Stiegel Lions Club of Clay & Elizabeth Townships will hold a “Buffet
Breakfast” on Sunday, November 2, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Brickerville Fire
Hall, located on Hopeland Road at Route 322.
There will be a large selection of breakfast items featured – all you can eat for $8.00.
Children’s meals will be half price.
This is a fund raiser to benefit the community. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

basketball event. This is an event families can enjoy together... laughter, comedy, slam
dunks, high-flying hoops... all for a good cause. And you can be part of it!
All funds raised from this event will go to VisionCorps and Lebanon Sight Committee.

Offering a unique brand of Harlem-style basketball featuring high-flying slam dunks,
dazzling ball-handling tricks and hilarious comedy routines, the Harlem Ambassadors are
a team of talented male and female basketball players that are drug-free, collegeeducated and positive in appearance. They are committed to giving their audience
quality family entertainment and serving as positive role models for kids.
A team of local celebrities -- men and women from our community -- will play against the
Harlem Ambassadors and be part of the comedy. Everyone will meet the Ambassadors
after the game during a complimentary autograph session.
Lions are a service organization and our motto is “We serve”. We have been called to be
“Knights of the Blind” from Helen Keller and we do that by providing support financially
and volunteering with blind/vision impaired persons as well as our community.
We are proud to announce that our Leos (middle & high school students) also serve in
the same capacity and are overseeing this event. This event will specifically impact this
age group and they are our future.
